ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Melanie Amaro has propelled her way into the top three acts in the X Factor finals with her captivating maneuver of octaves and musical notes. Now, she needs your vote to seal the deal to this unprecedented award of a $5 million recording contract and a Pepsi commercial to be performed during Super Bowl Sunday.

In last weeks' performance Melanie left the audience on a high note, leaving many to discuss her undisputable talent. This week, Melanie Amaro and the two remaining contestants Chris Rene, and Josh Krajcik are expected to pull out all the stops in their final reach for the coveted grand prize.

According to a press release from the BVI Tourist Board, your vote on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 could make Melanie the lucky winner.

“I always knew Melanie had a musical gift from God that would carry her further than she could ever imagine and when I told her to audition for X Factor, I pushed her despite her hesitation because I knew that it was now her time and that she would be able to handle anything that came her way,” said Melanie’s mother, Debra Amaro.

Melanie Amaro was born in Sunrise, Florida but came to the Virgin Islands at the age of three. Whilst in Tortola she attended D&D pre-school, Enid Scatliffe Pre-primary School and Althea Scatliffe Primary School. She also attended BVI High for the earlier part of her secondary education. Melanie was involved in local activities which included cheerleading at Althea Scatliffe and singing in the choir at the New Testament Church of God, Baugher’s Bay. “If you ask Melanie where she is from she would always say Tortola. Although she was born in Florida, Melanie considers herself a BVIslander and we could never tell her otherwise,” Mrs. Amaro proudly stated.

Melanie’s life has changed considerably since entering the competition in September 2011. According to Melanie’s mother Debra Amaro, before entering X Factor Melanie was in college studying to become a pediatric nurse, but she is now considering majoring in the arts, realising that her passion can provide a brighter future. In addition to her change in career paths Melanie finds herself being a role model to kids as well as being in high demand by jewelry stores, car companies and schools all wanting her to promote their products. She has also received great support from the Mayor of Sunrise, FL, Mike Ryan.

When asked if there was anything Melanie wanted to convey to her VI supporters Mrs. Amaro said, “Melanie is very grateful for all the support that she has received from her BVI friends and family. She said that when X Factor is over and everything is finished she has to find her way back home to the BVI to personally thank everyone for their support. She is very grateful to everyone for their continued votes and prayers because without her friends, family and supporters she wouldn’t be where she is today.”

The BVI Tourist Board urges VIslanders to "show your love and support for Melanie by voting one last time to secure her spot as the victor of X Factor USA".

In this competition there can only be one winner and that will be the person who secures the most votes so VOTE, VOTE, VOTE for BVI’s Melanie Amaro. BVI voters are only allowed one method of voting which is via Twitter direct message voting at http://twitter.thexfactorusa.com; you are able to vote with or without a twitter account by visiting the website and following the instructions on how to direct message your twitter votes.
