Youngsters take centre stage in Weekend football action
In the U7’s Group A match Begrado Flax, who are currently sitting atop the standings with 18 points, face Althea Scatliffe, who are in second place with 10 points and in Group B, Montessori and St Georges meet.
Montessori is currently in 4th place on goal difference behind Robinson O’Neal. Both teams have 10 points, but Robinson O’Neal has a +2 narrow advantage. St Georges are currently 6th and need a victory to get back into the hunt for a playoff berth.
The top of Group B is also a tight race as both First Impressions Orange and Cornerstone have 13 points with First Impressions ahead by a +1 goal difference.
In the Under 9 Group A encounter St Georges know a win over Rainbow would catapult them into second place at the expense of First Impressions, whilst a Rainbow victory could well see them go second depending on the margin of victory.
Cedar Green are holding onto first place with 9 points, but only 3 points separate the next four teams in what promises to be a close race for the play offs.
In Group B, Ebenezer Thomas/Agape will be hoping to get their first points of the season on the board as they take on Begrado Flax, who in turn need a win to get their season back on track and put some pressure on the early leaders Cedar White and Althea Scatliffe.
In the Under 12’s Group A game St Mary’s play against Cedar Blue and will be confident of picking up the 3 points for a win which would see them move into second place behind Joyce Samuels Primary. However victory for Cedar Blue would leave the qualification race wide open with just a point then separating 4 teams in the standings.
There are no scheduled Group B games this weekend, but the table is very tight with the free scoring First Impressions on top by goal difference only. Enis Adams and Claudia Creque Educational Centre are yet to get off the mark, points wise, but still might find themselves in the role of “spoilers” as four teams are just a win or two away from the top two.
Football for the Youngsters does not stop there either, as back on Tortola this afternoon the U13 Squad selected for the Tournament being held in St Maarten at Easter will be having a training session on the A.O. Shirley Ground from 3pm until 5pm.
