ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Deputy Premier and Minister responsible for Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Hon Julian Fraser, RA (R3), has shut down naysayers who criticise the government for what has been deemed 'frequent travel'.

He made these comments following a panel discussion during Diplomacy Week on October 22, 2025. The panel discussion was held under the theme ‘Our Place in the World: The Evolving Diplomacy of Overseas Territories’, with Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R9) and Premier of Anguilla Hon Cora Richardson-Hodge as panellists.

Accomplishments during trips can’t be done elsewhere

“They make fun of us in the House of Assembly when we travel, and you don’t know the benefits of travelling if you don’t travel,” Hon Fraser said.

He also told the Premier he has been doing a good job of defending himself and the rest of the members of government against such criticism.

Hon Fraser added, “The things that you accomplish on a trip, you can’t do it anywhere else, and that’s what happens.”

The Deputy Premier encouraged the panellists to “make that contact” every opportunity they are given, as they can only make that contact by travelling.

“Travel and meet the right people, and get the work done.”

Fraser to attend COP30

Hon Fraser, who holds the portfolio for Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, will attend the 30th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP30) in Belem, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025.

The Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund will officially be launched at COP30.

Though established by the Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund Act of 2015, the fund is now being operationalised. The purpose of the fund is to raise international sources of climate finance from various avenues, whether bilateral funds from countries, independent donors, charity organisations, or philanthropists.

The Hon gentleman is correct. He now knows that the benefits include first class reclining airline seats, Hotel concierge service, Dine with Caviar and Chamagne, retire with full body massage and sleep between Egyptian cotton sheets. Not bad tor a local lad from Sea Cow Bay

Those Egyptian cotton sheets is the best sheets to sleep on. I paid $300.00 on my king size set. They are so much better than satin sheets .

We are not making fun of HOA travelling for no reason. Its the fact that yall are travelling often to different countries who yall deemed we might be better than and it shows that we are not. Yall are not getting any ideas from these places to enforce. The first thing yall experience when travelling is the airport and ours is still in a mess. The people are tired of having to deal with certain things that we know can be done because we are travelling and HOA is also travelling and we can all see better infrastructure etc when we go to these places.

You better get travelling and get your benefits while the island suffers then. Enjoy your salary, your pension and your kickbacks.
    Good for you.
We will do fine on $7.25 and hour rising prices and taxes and failing infrastructure..
Don't worry about the people in your New Colonial world.

Many can't afford to travel, like most of you money-craving political leaders, especially minimum wages earners, and others low income workers, Hon. Julian Frazer, deputy Premier of the B.V.I. So stop boasting about traveling abroad.

Fraser you have to travel next on one of the upstairs and downstairs jumbo planes that have your own private sleeping compartment and bath room. Pure luxury in the sky. My wife and I had the opportunity to fly out of LAX to Morocco.

Is hard for us to see the benefits cuz y'all don't ever seen to bring back anything posting and implement it into the BVI. I still have yet to see anything like products or services or knowledge brought back and explained in the news then implemented into the bvi

The third has the most blind voters. If your district representative can't run atlarge its a sign they need to go.

True, reasonable travel is a sunk cost and a given of effective governing. It is a necessary cost of governing.

@Stealth, ‘ sunk cost’ you say. Truly, sunk cost in personal travel junkets. GTFOH wid dah financial, economic, etc, mumbo jumbo nonsense. I’m not averse to reasonable, needed travel. However, the territory must maximize the return its travel trips regionally, internationally , etc. No government have done better than the other in the last 20 years in regards to travel. They all abuses travel.

That's a lie about them not implementing anything from their travel, they met these artists and brought back and paid Vybz Kartel quarter million USD and bank of Asia $5 million USD.
