VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Chairman of the Anegada Advisory Lands Committee Mr Darrell Ruan Jr. has made the commitment to work together with the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government in an effort to advance the cause of the people in the Ninth District.

Speaking at the District Nine Action Group Town Hall Meeting and Membership Drive held at the Catholic Community Centre on May 3, 2023, Mr Ruan Jr urged members to focus on 5 pillars of development, which he listed as healthcare, banking, education, transportation and food security.

The meeting was conducted to chart the way forward with the process of membership and ventilating various ideas of focus for the Ninth District.

Among the persons affiliated with the Group are former legislator Shereen D. Flax-Charles and her sister Sharon P. Flax-Brutus.

‘There is no reason why we can’t come together’- Darrell Ruan Jr

“There is nothing wrong with trusting the people we elected. I know, me and Honourable Vincent Wheatley did not start out as the best of friends. There was a lot of tension, there was a lot of turmoil, but two words changed all of that- October 24 of 2021, and those words were ‘clean slate.’ That’s when the democracy and conversations started to happen and putting aside the foolishness…because you can’t have progress in confusion,” Mr Ruan Jr noted.

He added that since then, the people’s voices are being heard whenever they bring their issues to light and there has not been any hiccups since.

“I, Chairman Ruan would say publicly, there has never been a hiccup with us and the government since then…There is no reason why we can’t come together, sit down, work together, put aside all our differences, write down ten main points…and like Miss Flax- Brutus say, write a position paper; speak to the representative, work with him. That’s what we vote him there for, work with him. But for us to sit back and think that we don’t have a role to play in this, we fooling ourself,” he continued.

Mr Ruan Jr, one of the activists at the forefront of issues on Anegada, further encouraged residents and leaders of the Ninth District to ‘hold the crown’ and for Anegada and Virgin Gorda to charge ahead in the same direction as a collective.

The committee is yet to decide on whether to form a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) or to re-establish as Virgin Gorda Rock, an action group that started following the passage of hurricane Irma in 2017.

Well said but remember a leopard never change their spots. They feel only them have sense and are always right. They have made up their minds they will never work with the ninth district representative for no other reason than hatred and their constant desire to divide.

The people showed they wanted VIP as they are the only political party who won six convincing seats despite all the attempts to try to stop them from winning by the Governor and the other political parties. These are the FACTS!

how how come they had six seats?? how come they had people in every district that want to represent them unlike those who couldn't find a candidate?? Those district without a candidate for NDP or PVIM ask you all self if none of you all s not good enough to represent one of those party.

Now what these two Flax Sisters are doing is totally ridiculous. What a bitter & evil set of people.

This needs to stop. Shereen did all she could over the past 4yrs to undermine Vincent especially in Anegada. She had bad intentions from the beginning but did not calculate the VIP would out last and out smart her wicked plots. The further people stay from this negative entity the better for District 9 and the entire BVI.

You cannot expect nothing but confusion and evil intentions from anyone who slapped and kicked their mother and now speak as if they were a Saint. Those kind of people have put a curse on themselves for life and should be avoided at all cost as nothing will ever satisfy them unless they are the ones getting it done.

There needs to be a serious discussion to educate the people of the BVI how these two sisters did more damage to Tourism and Tourist Board than they are portraying. There was a lot of questionable conduct during their tenure and they need to be held accountable for those actions.

The article was well documented and give an insight of the way forward. There could be only government after the General Election. For us residents of the Ninth District, we should embrace the government to achieve progress. We should focus our attention to assist the critical issues, such as the delinquent youths, vulnerable seniors, suspected mental health individuals and infrastructure development as well as many others. If we work diligently and give critical support to the government, we will achieve tremendous success in the Ninth District.

As the results show Anegada did NOT vote for the current representative. We need our own District so we can determine our own destiny.

Apparently Anegadians know what they do want. They didn't vote for the lady who ran under the Pvim ticket and most of the votes that Levons got he apparently got them on Virgin Gorda. So your point makes no sense. How come Anegada didn't give levons ll your votes ND borrow the rest from Virgin Gorda?

Coy and Shereen each got more votes in Anegada than Vincent.
