‘Ya’ll need someone like me’ in leadership- Claude O. Skelton-Cline
Speaking during his show on March 12, 2026, Skelton-Cline lamented the fact that there is no plan for the Virgin Islands to mitigate or cushion the impact of current global tensions.
Food and fuel, he said, are what is needed to keep the VI going when that time comes. A plan would also indicate the type of leadership in the VI, he opined.
“This is what leadership means. See ya’ll need someone like me and others with the same [thinking],” he said.
Skelton-Cline has long been a critic of both the government and the opposition parties and has argued that a new slate of thirteen members of the House of Assembly is needed.
He has also said no one government is to blame for the current situation the VI is in. During the show, he called on the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) and the private sector to develop a plan for the country.
Some are blinded by party politics
“Some of you are afraid of bold and courageous, and direct leadership,” Skelton-Cline accused, “You like to run around with folks skinning and grinnig when there’s nothing funny when they don’t have no plan before you.”
Some, he added, are blinded by party politics to the point of “allowing our country just to sleep through a revolution”.
Skelton-Cline has continued to sound the alarm for proper planning for the Virgin Islands in the face of an unpredictable future.
Despite his comments, Skelton-Cline has not said if he plans to run for office in the next general election.
