It is unknown what causes this increase in accident rates? Here are some suggestions: incompetence and negligence, possibly from limited experience, staring at a GPS screen instead of looking to see where you’re going…

Different companies screen charterers differently: some are looking for boating skills; others are looking to see if the credit card is good!

As a nonsailor. hat said l doblnt think any of our reefs, rocks, or outcroppings are properly marked. When you allow credt card captains into the territory and give them clearance, the roads of the sea need to be properly marked. These folks dont know better.

There's no reason for a charter boat to be anywhere near Paraquita Bay. I don't know how on God's green earth you miss the Sir Frances Drake Channel and hit Tortola! Either the operator was asleep, drunk, trusting autopilot, or maybe the boat drifted over from Norman or Peter after being improperly secured. And yes, the reefs and harbors of the BVI are pretty well marked.

Therefore, it’s essential that the BVI remains watchful, prepared and proactive, as hope we not getting set up
