SOPER'S HOLE, Tortola, VI- Persons could only look on helplessly as a yacht was destroyed by fire in Soper's Hole this afternoon, Monday, October 31, 2022.

According to reports, the fire started around 5:00pm when the vessel was docked; however, after realising the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services would not make it fast enough, it was towed out into the bay.

Firefighters eventually arrived; however, they could have only watched on with others as the vessel became engulfed by the inferno.

At least two vessels were seen desperately trying to spray water on the boat using the engine propellers; however, that effort turned out to be futile.

It is unclear to our newsroom at this time what was the cause of the fire.

More details to follow.

No, they couldn't save the boat. We're just wondering what's your suggestions for the future? Hope you're not just spewing hot air.

the boats are well equipped and follow BVI regulations but what do they themselves have in place to help in such a situation. There is no fire and rescue coast guard. They want oats to be fully in compliance but yet themselves nothing in place to help.

Time for a fire boat. Shipping registry had one. They turned it into a dry dock ambulance

every Caribbean Island have a fire and rescue coast guard with high pressure water firefighting position. The BVI have over 2000 yachts, if am correct the most boats in the Caribbean and doesn't have any sea going firefighting Boat. what a shame and backwardness.

There is a fire boat. It may still be in the Nanny Cay boat yard.

I suppose the Vigilante police/fire boat is still unserviceable, if still afloat?

Do you realise how stupid your comment is? How can you say every Caribbean island has a fire and rescue coastguard then say we don’t have one? Also the us has far more boats in the Gulf of Mexico (which is part of the Caribbean) than we do.

Much talk about having a fire service boat. Just wondering if we did have one where would you keep or park it? If it was in town let's say - would it be maned 24/7. How long will it take to get to the fire in west or east end or even cane garden bay? Would like to read more about having such equipment please.

Next time let the coconut telegraph know there is a boat handing out blocks of cocaine in West End...the boats will be there in minutes!
Better yet, make one of those multi engine coke runners you capture into a fire boat! We got the stuff, sell some of that coke you store at the police house and buy us some fire equipment please!

An advertised World Capital Yachting location and no fireboat.
A lawsuit is warranted and world publicity.
    What * high-level backwards place.

Talk talk talk with no ideas on resolution. What's the point, or is it that you just wana blow off hot air?

All they had to do is put a fire truck or two on the closest badge from West End. Hopefully it was not too far from the incident so it can get there before its too late.
