World Athletics President Lord Sebastian N. Coe pays courtesy call on VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - President of World Athletics; the international governing body for the sport of athletics, Lord Sebastian N. Coe has paid a courtesy call to the Virgin Islands (VI) to view first-hand the progress of works done since the hurricanes of 2017.

As part of the visit, Lord Coe held meetings with representatives from the BVI Athletic Association as well as view viewed ongoing works at the A.O. Shirley Recreational Ground.

He also made courtesy calls to Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Natalio  D. Wheatley (R7), and Minister of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports Honourable Sharie B. de Castro (AL).

During the tour of the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground, Lord Coe also got an opportunity to interact with club coaches, administrators, and athletes.

BVI Olympic President, Ephraim Penn and Director of Recreation Trust Eustace Freeman aka ‘Boss’ were also present during the tour as Lord Sebastian shared stories with athletes of his tenure as WA President.

He also spoke about his previous life as a Member of Parliament for the Conservative Party and his athletic experiences as a multi-time Olympic medalist and world record holder.

Meanwhile, members of the public and onlookers were also present seizing the opportunity to interact with Lord Coe. 

The BVIAA in a statement said, “Intrigued with the stories and experiences, Lord Sebastian Coe was asked many questions which kept him ‘on his feet’ for well-over-an hour. Media personalities were also on hand capturing the interaction.”

    If very funny the main man responsiblele for this trip is grandfather I was told he did all the planning to get him to make this trip. It's so funny he git stuck in the bad weather in the US and not one person spoke about it. Everyone from the government to sports officials needs to stop giving people credit.
