After two years of inactivity, stemming from issues experienced with the last contractor the Ministry is ready to complete the project according to Acting Permanent Secretary Mrs. Arlene Smith-Thompson.   

“As a result of the abrupt ending to the last roof contract, significant legal implications prohibited us from moving forward towards the completion of the project. 

Now that those matters have been resolved we are ready to sign a new  contract which is scheduled for  this  Thursday, October  11 for the completion of the roof,” Mrs. Smith-Thompson  explained to the Department of Information and Public Relations. 

The Ministry of Communications and Works is just  a few days away from signing a contract to complete works on the roof replacement project at the Central Administration Building. 

According to the Project Manager, Ms. Shanika Fraser the roof replacement project is a significant part of the air quality improvement project which consists of the replacement of the existing roofing system and the general remediation project that includes sanitising and cleaning of interior office spaces, installation of new air condition ducts, replacement of new carpets and floor tiles,” Ms. Fraser stated. 

“The roof replacement project is essential to the air quality of the building and upon its completion it is expected that leaks throughout the building will be eliminated, which will significantly reduce the growth of allergens and ultimately increase air quality throughout the Central Administration Building,” she said.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is committed to ensuring the continued development and maintenance of the Central Administration Building in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other international standards.
