CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — An unknown suspect, in his attempts to rob a woman of a 14K gold chain, injured the victim after pushing her down stairs leading to her home, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Monday December 7, 2015.

According to Ms Freeman, citing a police report, the incident occurred near Kenia’s Fashion in Kronprindsens Gade on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at about 7:05 a.m., when the victim was heading up a staircase that leads to her residence.

As she made her way up, an unknown, black male grabbed her 14kt gold chain from her neck from behind, and pushed the victim down the staircase, causing a contusion to the head and lacerations to her left knee, according to the report.

VIPD is asking anyone with information relative to this incident to call 911 or contact the anonymous tips service, Crime Stoppers, USVI at 1-800-222-(TIPS) 8477, or go to www.crimestoppersusvi.org.

Elsewhere on St Thomas, at about 5:20 pm on the same day, Michael Swift, 56, of Estate Bordeaux, was arrested and charged with grand larceny, according to Ms Freeman, made known in a separate press release issued on Monday.

Ms Freeman said that Swift was arrested after the victim caught him removing a television from under a shed at the Crown Bay Marina and attempted to put it in his vehicle. During further investigation, officers located several other items belonging to the victim in Swift’s transport.

Unable to make bail of $35,000, Swift, was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of- rights hearing.
