FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— A woman appeared before a judge in the [US] VI Superior Court on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, after getting into an altercation with her partner over the sale of a generator, police say.

Maritza Gonzalez was arrested and charged on November 29, 2022, with third-degree assault as an act of domestic violence and disturbance of the peace by fighting, following a report of a domestic violence incident.

According to the probable cause fact sheet, police made contact with the complainant who stated that on Tuesday, he woke up from sleep and realised that his girlfriend, Maritza Gonzalez, was attempting to sell his gas generator. He said he stopped the transaction between Gonzalez and a male individual and renegotiated the sale, selling it for $800 instead of the initial $500. He stated that after the sale, Gonzalez became violent because he did not share the money with her. Gonzalez picked up a broomstick and struck him multiple times about the body, causing injuries. He stated that he then left the area to avoid further conflict with Gonzalez.

'I would do it again but worse'- Gonzalez

When police made contact with Gonzalez, she stated that her boyfriend wanted the generator sold so she found a buyer for $500. She said that the complainant woke up angry with her and proceeded to sell the generator on his own. She said that after the sale, he refused to share the money with her so she struck him with the broomstick and said, “I would do it again but worse." Police observed scratches on the man’s chest and a laceration to his left hand, however he refused medical attention.

Gonzalez was then placed under arrest.

In court on Wednesday, a judge ruled that Gonzalez would be released upon the posting of $500 bail in cash, and the remainder of the $15,000 bail amount as an unsecured bond.

Gonzalez is barred from leaving St Croix without the court’s written permission and must surrender her passport. She is to report to the Office of Probation every Tuesday and must have no contact with the complainant. Her next court appearance is on December 13, 2022.

He did the right thing by not hitting her back, however, how a man go sit back and let a woman beat him with a broom stick. You are better off staying by yourself these days because women is to damn treacherous and evil. Be very careful of the women you get yourself involved with. You can sneeze in their direction and the b****es will tell the police you hit them and the next thing you know you end up wearing the silver wrist bracelet.

You're right bro. I heard of a incident where a dude said he touch his child mother hand in an attempt to get her to let go of a door know so he could close it, he said as soon as his hand touch hers she bawl out "You hit me, I will call the police" Sure enough, she called the police and reported that the man hit her.

Give the woman her fair share. She got the buyer, you negotiate the sale ..Seems like he was treating the lady bad and she wanted money badly. Bias Police, I'm sure he is a Cruzian man and she is Spanish.

At least in some countries the police see domestic violence can go both ways. In the BVI a woman could beat the hell out of a man and not get charged. If the man hold her two hands to avoid the beating and she gets a scratch he gets jail no matter how he tries to explain the situation.

Provide the lady with her due. She found the customer, now you close the deal. She apparently needed money severely and he was treating her poorly. I'm convinced he's a Cruzian man and she's Spanish, but the Bias Police will never believe me. word hurdle

These women out here is no damn good. They are only after what the man have in his pockets. A man build his way up and they will slither their way in. A b…h will be sleeping next to you and plotting on you at the same time. I don’t have any use for a woman, you have sex with them, put a rain coat on do your due and send them on their way out the door. When a woman say she is protected, don’t believe that S**t. Protect yourself then you don’t have to worry about them dropping a child on you.

And the thing with some of these women, they can’t even prepare a decent meal, they don’t know how to keep a house clean, they lay up all day doing nothing and expect the man to come out his pockets for their lazy worthless behinds. As a man P***y is not that important to me. I don’t need them to do Jack for me, they are just a bunch of problems always complaining and nagging about something stupid.WHERE YOU AT? WHO WAS THAT YOU TALKING TO? WHY YOU NOT PICKING UP YOUR PHONE? AIN’T NO B GO STRESS ME OUT. ALL THEY LOOKING FOR IS WHAT A MAN HAVE IN THEIR POCKETS.
