Woman accused of assaulting husband ordered to seek counselling from FSN
The court heard that on February 5, 2015 the virtual complainant and son were in the company of a female friend.
It is alleged that the virtual complainant had asked the friend to drop him and his son home as it was raining heavily. Upon arrival at the Sea Cows Bay residence all parties remained in the car conversing, the court heard.
The accused then approached the vehicle and demanded that her son exit, which he did. The court was then told that the accused allegedly collared the virtual complainant resulting in him getting out of the vehicle and walking away from the vehicle in the direction of his home.
It was then alleged that the accused pursued the virtual complainant during which time she began to hit him about his neck.
Thereafter both parties and their son entered the home and the virtual complainant went back outside.
As the accused was leaving the virtual complainant attempted to re-enter the home when the accused hit him to the head.
The court heard that the virtual complainant’s mother had to intervene.
The virtual complainant was then treated and discharged from Peebles Hospital.
The court further heard that on February 17, 2015 the accused was met, cautioned and informed about the report against her.
The prosecution alleged that the accused admitted to hitting the virtual complainant but said that it had been in self-defence.
On February 19, 2015 Johnson-Olivierre was formally charged for the offence. The prosecution informed the Magistrate that the file on the matter is not yet complete as a medical report is pending.
Johnson-Olivierre said that she and the virtual complainant have not been living together for the last two years. She claimed not to have any knowledge of being charged as she said she was told to come to court.
Magistrate DaBreo then ordered her to get counselling from Family Support Network’s Executive Director Dr Sylvia M. Simmonds but she asked to be given a different counsellor as she said Dr Simmonds has sessions with her husband.
She is to return to court on February 5, 2016.
