BALMAIN, Couva, Trinidad & Tobago- After going down 0-3 in their opening Group C clash with 19-time Suriname league champions, SV Transvaal on July 27, 2025, Wolues FC of the Virgin Islands were hoping for a better showing in their second game of the 2025 CFU Club Shield in Trinidad and Tobago. However, the road only got tougher for the visitors.

Wolues FC, the first team from the Virgin Islands to participate in the CFU Club Shield, were mauled 0-8 by Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

It meant that the boys from the Virgin Islands had the opportunity to make it back early for the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival, as they were knocked out in the group stage.

Weymouth Wales FC went on to reach the Final and will play Moca FC of the Dominican Republic at Ato Boldon Stadium from 7:45 PM today, Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Wolues trailed 0-3 at halftime but conceded two minutes after the restart, as the relentless pressure from the Barbadian side continued.

Wolues reduced to 10 men

Behind 0-6, things went from bad to worse for Wolues in the 88th minute, when Ciaran Johnston received a straight red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. The penalty was successfully converted by Moca FC to make it 7–0.

The rout was complete in the 90th minute when substitute Armando Lasley added an eighth, putting the finishing touch on a ruthless performance.

Weymouth Wales FC topped Group C with six points, while Wolues finished last in the group.

Good for them , this is not a VI team.
The Sports committee should be ashamed!
    Train your own people!
Send them away to football school, invest in the youths. Take dat.

The BVIFA local league is a fun sport for recreational football only. The BVI football standdard and skill is at a low level. Unfortunately BVI football cannot go any futher with an inept Board. Leadership and accountability matters at all levels. An investigation is necessary to uncover allegedly mishandling of monies.

The comment section sounds so silly! This was not a national league, it's meant for clubs that qualify not just VI people. Of all the clubs playing in the domestic league, Wolues qualified and was able to enter the.

This BVI league team is one of the better teams locally and when faced with other teams which plays proper soccer, they are unable to compete. This is a perfect example of the state and skills of the players un the BVi. Perhaps that is why BVIFA has to import players to play in competition. BVI football is in desperate needs of leadership and accountability

The BVI league is an amateur league. All clubs are amateur and play for the love of the game. There are not sufficient funds or prize monies to pay imported professional players.
The majorities of clubs playing on the Caribbean Shield were professional, with more resources and players on professional contracts.
