GREENLAND, Tortola, VI - As the LIME Superfast T20 League continued on Sunday March 6, 2016 at Greenland Playfield, RTW and Grenada CC cemented their places atop Division One and the Premier League respectively.

Man of the Match Rodney Marryshow powered Grenada to a huge 90 run victory against Vincy CC, first scoring 110, with 19 fours and 4 sixes as Grenada reached 233 for 4 and then picking up 4 for 28 as Vincy were bowled out for just 143.

Marryshow put on 124 with Raymond Charles (46*), from just 69 balls, for the third wicket and also added 71 from 49 balls, with David Johnson who hit 37, including 5 sixes.

The pick of the bowlers for Vincy was Earl Prescott, who finished with 1 for 23.

In reply, Vincy were soon in deep trouble at 49 for 6 and only reached some respectability after Monty Butler hit 59, with 7 fours and 4 sixes and McTair James scored 24, to reach 143.

Apart from Marryshow’s four wicket haul, Irwin Lewis and Trent Belfon troubled the early batsman with sheer pace, whilst Kitason Francis chipped in with 2 for 41.

“The game definitely turned out in our favour, we came here to win and put our best foot forward. Marryshow’s hundred gave us the opportunity to try a few things with our bowling, but all the guys played well and did what they had to do,” commented Grenada’s captain, Derol Redhead.

RTW topple Under The Tree

The Division one encounter between RTW and Under the Tree proved equally as comfortable for the table topping RTW as, despite the unusual failure of Joel Williams and Austin McDowall, with the bat, Sylvester Mitchell stepped up with 84 at the top of the order, including 13 fours and 4 sixes, as his team posted 252 for 7.

Mitchell and Lando Ollivierre’s unbeaten 58, with 9 fours and 2 sixes, took the game beyond the reach of their opponents and only Kevin Doyley had much success with the ball as he picked up 4 for 24 and was ultimately named as Man of the Match.

The Under the Tree reply got off to the worst possible start as Colin Olivierre fell cheaply for 6 in the first over. Kevin Thompson, who was eventually the 8th man out having scored 73 with 5 fours and 7 sixes, along with E. Prince, who scored 37 with 5 fours and 2 sixes, rebuilt the innings slowly with a 58 run partnership for the 2nd wicket, but it was all to no avail as the innings finished on 182.

The 71 run victory was sealed with an all round bowling display with five bowlers all picking up two wickets each.

“It went well, all the players did well and it was good to see Mitchell and Olivierre batting so well. We rotated the bowlers and picked up wickets at regular intervals and never really gave them a chance,” noted McDowall, the RTW Captain.

Next Sunday, March 13, 2016, will see Royal Knights play Cavaliers at 10.00am, followed by Island Stars against Under The Tree at 2.00pm.
