GREENLAND, Tortola, VI - As the LIME Superfast T20 League continued on Sunday February 28, 2016, at Greenland Recreation Ground, Cavaliers bounced back from defeat in their first game to beat Vikings CC in the Premier Division and Island Stars crushed Wolues in Division One.

Having elected to bat, the Wolues were dismissed inside 12 overs for a paltry 57, with just Charlie E. Jackson (20 *) reaching double figures, as Man of the Match Wayne Phillip, who picked up four for 13 and Xavier Turby, four for 19, tore through the fragile batting line up.

In reply, Gregory James smashed his way to an unbeaten 39, including 5 fours and 2 sixes, to bring home the victory, by nine wickets from only four overs.

Cavaliers beat Vikings

In the Premier division clash, Vikings posted an above par score of 236 for 4, led by Vic Seepersad’s 102 from 67 balls. He hit 11 fours and 4 sixes and the 122 run partnership with Ken Alphonso who notched an even 50, seemingly put the Vikings out of reach.

Mohamed Hasan picked up 2 wickets for the Cavaliers, but at a cost of 52 from his four overs.

In the chase and after the early loss of Dorian Auguiste, Kwesi Sinclair and Teddy Nankishore put on 130 for the second wicket, before Nankishore fell for 60. Sinclair though continued to batter the Vikings bowlers and reached his century from 48 balls, with 12 fours and 4 sixes to secure the 7 wicket win inside 19 overs.

Kwesi Sinclair was named Man of the Match, but was quick to praise the all round team effort.

“We had great communication out there and we knew one of us had to bat right through, today it was me and I’m thankful for that.”

Vikings Captain Vishal Munesar was a little more philosophical about the defeat. “We knew they were going to come hard at us early on and if we had taken our chances the outcome would have been different. Our bowlers didn’t really perform and the dropped catches cost us the game.”

Congrats to both centurions- Vick for Vikings and Kwesi for Cavaliers…keep up the good work! This match was one of the better games I have seen a while. Two fairly evenly matched teams.
