ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – High surf and small craft advisories remain in place for the Virgin Islands, as according to the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), a surface high pressure will continue to generate a moderate to fresh wind flow across the region.

“The winds coupled with northerly swells will maintain choppy and hazardous seas across the area,” DDM stated in its weather forecast for today, February 1, 2021.

Northerly swells reaching 8 ft

It said the seas can reach 1.8 to 3.4 metres or 6 to 11 feet with northerly swells reaching 2.4 metres or 8 feet.

“A high surf and small craft advisory remains in place,” DDM stated.

Meanwhile, the weather today is expected to be partly cloudy with a 20 percent or slight chance of showers, while the weather tonight is forecast to be partly cloudy with a 20 percent or slight chance of showers.

Winds: Easterly 12 to 23 mph or 19 to 37km/h and gusting to 35mph or 56 km/h.

    I laugh because this is like three days late,,,, The BVI would have already sunk if there was a Tsunami,,,, We need to get better with these warnings,,,,We really need to get serious in this department,,,,,

    We have been getting lots of heavy winds and snow. Maybe some of the wind shifted in your direction.
