SIMPSON BAY, Sint Maarten- Winward Islands Airways International (WINAIR), which services the region, including the [British] Virgin Islands, has announced it will begin flying between Beef Island and Antigua next month.

“Antigua is calling, we are super excited to announce starting this July our new route from Tortola to Antigua,” WINAIR stated on its Facebook page on June 16, 2023.

On June 18, 2023, it stated: “Exciting news! You already know we fly from Sint Maarten to Tortola, but starting this July, you can also fly with us from Tortola to Antigua!”

It also announced that tickets were on sale for direct flights between Beef Island to Antigua.

Flights available from July 6, 2023

WINAIR did not state exactly which date the new service will begin; however, a call to his reservation desk in Sint Maarten this morning, June 22, 2023, revealed that flights are bookable from July 6, 2023, with one-way tickets starting at $213.90.

It is not clear what type of aircraft will be used; however, it was in November 2022, that WINAIR announced the acquisition of two (2) ATR 42-500 series aircraft, one of which will fly to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island.

WINAIR had said with the introduction of the ATR aircraft, it is better equipped to respond to customer demand, changing market needs and support St Maarten and its stakeholders for the future.

Finally another option to beef from Antigua other than the dreaded and almost unmentionable intercaribbean airlines.

If you want to be a hater at least post the truth. Another aircraft had not vacated the runway so the American did a standard go around and landed a few minutes later. No issues.

$213.90 one way so $427.80 round trip. I can't understand why it costs almost $500 for an hour's plane to Antigua. It should range from $250-$350 round trip the most. It's not like selling tickets will be an issue because there aren't many options.
