PALESTINA ESTATE, Tortola, VI - In a Facebook post on October 20, 2023, former Speaker of the House of Assembly Julian Willock has announced that as part of ‘Reading is Fun Week 2023’ he took the opportunity to read to the fourth form students’ literature class at the St. George’s Secondary School on October 20, 2023.

The school is located in Palestina Estate on the main island of Tortola.

Mr. Willock noted on his Facebook post  “It was indeed motivational, as I was impressed to see the eagerness on their bright faces and their thirst to learn.”

The former Speaker also heaped praises on the English Language and literature teacher, Ms. Shari-Ann Aundia who he described as an “inspiration” also stated that “whether in public or private schools, I remain committed to education and lifelong learning.”

The businessman also believes that “once we provide young people with opportunities, the Virgin Islands will remain on a path to fulfilling its greatest potential.”

Big plans for District Three

Mr. Willock is leading a group in District Three that has been engaged in many activities.  In August of this year, they supplied books, bags, and other school supplies to over 130 students in a highly successful back-to-school event.

In September of this year, he also teamed up with Ms. Kishma P. Forbes of Virgin Islands School and Office Supplies, a local business in District Three to give out over a thousand dollars ($1000.00) worth of items to the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School.

In the future, the group plans to launch a food pantry for District Three, and host a job fair in November. More plans include having a troop from District Three in the 2024 August Monday parade for the 70th anniversary of the Territory’s Emancipation celebrations.

Mr. Willock could not be reached for comments as of publication time.

Next election I am not voting for anyone who does not speak about climate justice

The heat and frequency of storms, floods and hurricanes going do more damage in the next 4 years to the bvi! Climate justice is not just about injustice. We are all in the same storm, but fighting from different boats.

Very good initiative. More male presence is needed in the schools. Let’s hope that others will take time out of their busy schedules to do likewise on the next occasion.

Mr. Willock loves the people of the 3rd district and it is nice to see the interest he has taken in both adults and children.
He is very knowledgeable in the affairs of this country One of the students who attended the session told me that she was very impressed with his presentation.

I can't vote in district three but I see Mr Willock as a hero from his time at water and sewage how he look out for the staff.

Then after that his ball busting interview on BBC where he defended the bvi. Then he stood up to the coi as it was his duty that they follow the law, that they operate with the highest levels of integrity, and that they are transparent not being called to the bvi bar as the law requires.

His hopeful next step is to the house of assembly which we agree is the natural next step

I wish to thank Mr Julian for the excellent work in his community. What I admire about the projects he listed is that they are private sector driven and not dependent upon government. Big ups to Kishma also
