Willock hints he may run for D3 seat if Hon Fraser exits politics in 2027

Former Speaker of the House of Assembly Mr Julian Willock has hinted that he may run for office in District 3 should long-term representative, Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) make this current term political term in office the last ahead of the 2027 General Elections in the Virgin Islands (VI). BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI– Former Speaker of the House of Assembly (HoA) Mr Julian Willock has hinted he may run for office in District 3 should long-term representative Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) make this current term political term in office the last ahead of the 2027 General Elections in the Virgin Islands (VI).

Mr Willock made the disclosure while a guest of Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, May 29, 2023, when questioned on the possibilities of running for office at the next elections.

“Well, it's my understanding, for example, in the Third District there will be an open seat. So you never know what can happen… I'm not making any announcements now, I don’t want any headlines,” he added.

Mr Willock added, “I'm not the spokesman for my good friend Honourable Julian Fraser, but it's my understanding that this may be his last four years. So again, in the Third District, there’s an open seat, so we'll see what happens with that open seat,” he said.

'It's an open seat'- Willock

While the former Speaker did not confirm or deny if he would indeed run for office, he said his decision will depend on a number of factors.

“It's an open seat and you’ll never know at the time what the climate is, who the people want at the time, and it's all about the people, what you have done for the community, who is best position at the time to run for the district and also who perhaps will enjoy the endorsement of Hon Julian Fraser if indeed it’s his last four years,” he added.

Hon Fraser, during the campaign trail, had said he wanted to "pass on the baton" but he wasn't seeing anyone to pass it to.

Hon Willock reminded that he supported Kevin C. Smith aka 'OJ' for the Third District seat during the 2023 elections campaign and that his decision to not run in the last elections was based on personal political analysis surrounding the prospects of him winning the seat.

He also said his visits across the islands ahead of the elections campaign had revealed a 50/50 split on him running for office and that eventually he was satisfied with the candidates the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) had put forward.

“I did not run in the last elections, let’s wait and see what happens,” Mr Willock added while reminding there are a lot of ways one can serve a country outside of political office.

Election is over yes, however, if anyone is considering a run in 2027, now is the time to start preparing. Chose to agree or not, it is time for Fraser to step out of politics. He had his run in politics.

@@herbs power, would you like to know why we have great carnivals? We start planning for next year’s carnival the day after carnival ends. Off course anyone that is stepping into the Political arena have to start prepping 4 years in advance before the initial election.

Fraser will probably die in the 3D seat in the HOA. He'll never leave politics until he realizes his fantasy dream of becoming the Premier is not possible.

Fraser and Mitch need to give up the dream of ever becoming Premier or Deputy Premier.

Election just over and you folks waxing out 2027 general election. That was a useless question on something that is an eternity away. In politics four ( 4) years is an eternity. Time could hsve been better spent getting some insight on the way forward, given the myriadvof challenges fsced by the VI. Anyway, it time fir Fraser to call it in. That elusive Crown—-Premiershp—has gone. He tried unsuccessfully to leverage his victory in a Hung- HoA last election. Time to give tge opportunity to the next generation. What can Fraser do at this stage other than be a nuisance calling vote of no confidence. Progressive United is not a part; how can you run as a party withbone member. If you are leading and glance back and no one is following you are not leading and should exit stage left. I’m not a fan of term limit, for the voters are the term limit deciders. But when people just hang around just to be hanging round milking the cow I’m getting to the point where I may be for it if only temporarily. Liberator time to call it a day. There is nothing more painfully than seeing an old politician , singer, sports star, etc, who do not get when enough is enough and it is time to move on.

Fraser got most of the people in his District completely brain washed. They are quite content living the ghetto lifestyle.Well check this, sooner than later it is going to come out. Down in Pleasant Valley there is a certain house that is…………..the……….that is ……….

If you study politics you'd know the country is on a very shaky footing. The sitting government doesn't have a clear majority and if anyone of their members become disgruntled and opts to cross the floor......... the Premier will have no choice but to dissolve the House and it's back into elections we go. My money is on the one in the corner to bring it all crashing down and I'm sure the esteemed knows that hence putting himself out there. The rest should be taking notes.

Watch how this is going to turn into one unnecessary WO WO. Fraser needs to be on his District behinds about cleaning up the derelict boats in the harbor, and he need to get on that Forbes man about cleaning up those derelict vehicles that he has parked up in front of the main entrance of the late teacher Inez house. Why should the tenants have to be inconvenienced out of a parking space when they are paying rent. Perhaps the old derelict cars is paying rent as well.
