ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Following Neil Blyden’s resignation as Chairman of the BVI Tourist Board on November 9, 2011, no one has been appointed to fill the spot, however, names have been shuffling around as to who will be the next Chairman with a former board member among the top picks.

According to Virgin Islands News Online sources inside the new administration, Sharon Flax-Mars, who resigned as a member of the BVITB on August 5, 2010, is one of the names that have been circulating as a possible candidate for the position.

When contacted by Virgin Islands News Online last week on the subject, Flax-Mars said she did not wish to comment.

Flax-Mars who had served on the board for some seven years prior to her resignation with immediate effect on August 5 last year, had tendered her resignation a little more than a week after then Chairman Myron Walwyn, now Minister for Education and Culture had also resigned.

It is good that Gov change up all these committees and boards and put new persons, including immigration, /town and Country just to name a few. I will say give her a chance but she will have to change her attitude and the way she talks down to people. Every one should be given a chance. Let us keep the blogs down from being nasty and tasteless. Let our BVI people start to shine, by giving others a chance.

Sharon is a cool person, but she can be a crook. She is not for the locals.

she is not for locals who feel because they born here they can do what they want on people job. She is not for locals who feel because they born here that they do not need to be qualified to get a job. She is for locals who want to work hard, are honest and empowered. She is for locals who know that to move up the corporate ladder that they need to be qualified and experienced and are willing to get the qualifications and the experience. If that is being a crook then so be it

Don't even try to sugar coat anything. She is not for locals, SIMPLE!! Qualified or not, she is not for us. LDB can't be any better than where it is now because of people like her.

Sharon hmm has her ways yea....I am certain she will do a good job in that position but I also no she will be power hungry. The only thing she really care about is the Vincentains dem. At present she is the director of the biggest employer in VG and she only pretending she really care about the locals dem hiring dem but really and truly she cant stand dem, she only employing dem because she dont want people talk when hire the vincentains. Look she she done hire couple give she family supervisor postion. She can be a big pretender she is the GM, the rooms division manager and the hr director she have a big blind fold over duncan eyes and for sure she couldnt have one over martein eyes. Her besty villa manager or villa confusion maker is the hr director every thing she tell her do she do and when the villa confusion maker cause problems in work place she gets away with it, she even disrespect the GM and the controller and get away with it. But we will see let any other person take over that position we will see what she going to do. Chupessssssssssss

Gosh Neil was doing good. The governor needs to hire people in these types of posts that are not political. Too much changes, very unstable.

Why dont you let government do their thing. You full well know that the Premier is out of the country and will make a decision when he gets back. They will pick the person they think is best for the job and if it is Mrs Flax-Mars then there is nothing any of you can do. The people who are tipping you off work for the BVITB and are afraid for their jobs. If they were doing their jobs they would not have to worry. VINO why are you not asking how much money was spent on Wendy Williams and the road shows that they have been on since the day of elections. Even their secretaries are driving around in limis up in New york. Are you trying to speculate as to who is paying for all this? Be responsible and do some real investigative reportingIf you dig close enough to the source of your tip for the appointment of the chairman you will find out about about all of the mismanagement of the mone at the tourist board

You mean like the TB HR Director who recently hired her sister to work in the NY office........Big salary to answer a phone and no tourism/marketing experience. Money spending left and right and not a soul saying anything about it. Better they left Verna there!
