MAYABA ESTATE, Tortola, VI- An argument between a couple over suspicion of infidelity allegedly resulted in the wife pulling out pepper spray to defend herself and the husband allegedly picking up a gun while at Mayaba Estate on Saturday July 24, 2021.

According to reports reaching our newsroom from sources close to the situation, the wife lives in the US Virgin Islands (USVI) but would regularly visit her husband of 3 years on Tortola.

The quarrel between the two reportedly started when the husband allegedly accused the wife of being unfaithful while she was reportedly on the phone with her mother.

Alleged pepper spray vs gun

During the argument, the husband allegedly choked the wife; however, she pulled out a pepper spray. The husband allegedly picked up a gun and took the wife’s iPhone and iPad and threw water on them.

He also allegedly took the woman’s passport.

The wife reportedly ran to a nearby house and asked them to call the police.

While waiting on the police to arrive, the husband allegedly turned up at the neighbour’s house and reportedly demanded that the wife gets in his vehicle.

At this time, our newsroom was told, the sister of the husband turned up, which resulted in the husband leaving the scene.

The matter was reported to the police.

It is unclear if any arrests have been made.

According to reports, the wife was only interested in retrieving her passport so she could promptly leave the territory.

This behavior is ridiculous. If for some reason the wife recognize that the relationship with her husband is falling apart and wants to move on with her life, then the husband should honor her decision. There is no need for the use of gun to resolve the matter. Both parties have rights to make decision on the way forward. As some businessmen would say, you count your losses and celebrate the end of the relationship. There will be no other conflict between the two parties. Don't be discouraged. Just take it to the Lord in prayer and all will be well.

Yes, guns are illegal but did the news site said a gun was recovered? The wife said he pulled a gun but was it in his possession when the cops came? How in the world can they arrest him if they didn't find one. Can they arrest and charge him without the evidence? You sound like a fool and a number of other fools are joining you.

Generally, once a cheat and a liar ALWAYS a cheat and a liar. Shame shame shame on those kinds. They know not what loyalty, honesty, faithfulness and truth are! Lollllllll. When a person acts wickedly to another to who is/was good to him/her, he/she receives what is evil in return. There is a just and living God. Daily throw the wicked at his feet.

Are people missing the point here? They both had illegal weapons immediately to hand! Why is the conversation about relationships? These people are apparently readily armed!
    • Hmm (26/07/2021, 07:48) Like (6) Dislike (1) Reply
Pepper spray is illegal? It does not make sense for persons to not be allowed to be armed in some accepted way when police come after the fact to clean up. I’m sleeping with my machete & spear not to become a victim but heaven forbid a woman use pepper spray?

Cmon what is the weaker gender supposed to use. If the law doesn’t make sense and places you in harms way why follow it.

Humans come up with these rules playing ruler assuming responsibility for security and they aren't fortunetellers. Unless there is an ongoing threat of invasion & terrorism in a normal peaceful society security forces do not protect not a single soul from death or trauma.

I rather they use self defense tools and be taught how to use them than be scarred for life depending on someone who physically can’t be there in the moment of danger.

If the story is correct and he was choking her... if she didn’t have that spray ready it could have been a worse situation.

Tortola men treat women like crap .I am not saying some women don’t cheat but no matter how educated they are they show little regard for their vows . The society accepts it and looks the other way .Their family condone their behaviors .
