ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Colin Chester, who appeared before the Magistrate's Court on July 27, 2012, to answer charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, received leniency from the court, as a result of his wife speaking as a witness of his behaviour and their changes while asking for mercy to be bestowed upon her husband.

Mrs. Chester, who appeared before the court with her husband, informed Magistrate Tamia Richards, who presided over the court, that her husband has changed and is coping with his anger problems, due to his recent completion of the Partnership for Peace Programme that he was obligated to attend, according to court requirements.

In taking the comments given by the defendant’s wife into consideration, Magistrate Richards dismissed the man on his charges with a warning and a suspended penalty.

The court instructed Mr. Chester that he is bound to keep the peace for one year and in default he is objected to pay a fine of $2000 or serve six months in prison.
