West Gunners & Hannah's open action in Nat. Intermediate League
West Gunners will be challenged by Hannah’s Triple Threat in the scheduled double header at the Save the Seed Centre court in Duffs Bottom.
Following the opening ceremony at 5 P.M., District 3 and District 1 will clash in the 9-12 Division after which action in the National Intermediate League will commence.
According to one of the coordinators of the event, Mr Milton McLean, 11 teams have shown their interest so far with 6 already registering for the National Intermediate League and 3 teams for the 9-12 Division.
Registration, which is at a cost of $100 per team and entitles the 12 players to playing jerseys, has been extended to tomorrow, Tuesday August 13, 2013. Teams are asked to have matching trousers.
Trophies will be awarded to the respective winners and outstanding players at the end of October when the league is expected to be completed.
Games will be played from 5 P.M. on Fridays and from 4 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Mr McLean is encouraging parents and basketball fans to come out to support the players during the league.
“This is definitely going to be a fun league and it is very important that the parents come out to support. We want a nice clean league so we expect the players also to be on their best behaviour. You can come out, get something to eat or drink and sit down and enjoy the games in a clean and friendly atmosphere.”
