ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Representative for the First District and senior member of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Andrew A. Fahie said that the Opposition will remain focused and will not be deterred by political bullying.

He was referring to the Third Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Second House of Assembly yesterday February 12, 2015 during which Premier Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith was able to move the passage of a motion to renumber the order of the day’s sitting. In doing so he caused the question and answer period to be pushed towards the end.

However at around 10:00 pm the House went into recess until Tuesday February 17, 2015 at which time it is expected that the questions are posed and answered.

In a comment to this news site yesterday, Honourable Fahie said, “It is disheartening to hear that the Premier doesn't regard questions and answers as part of the people's business. I can understand the need to make this move at times but not every time there are questions on the Order Paper.”

“This is a constant attempt to derail democracy. It seems as if the Government wants the Opposition to come in sit down, sit up and shut up. Only speak when they are allowed to speak by the Government,” he said.

“The Premier was in the Opposition twice and for those 8 years we always showed him the respect that is due to him as he represents the people of this Territory. Nevertheless the Members of the Opposition will remain focused and will not be deterred by this political bullying,” said Honourable Fahie.

Order in the house of assembly. A man does nothing he fears nothing. It is a shame people who say they represent the populace of this territory do not know how to conduct themselves in the House of Assembly. People all over the world are watching and listening. If you cannot take the heat get out of the. Kitchen.
