‘We need more NDP must go t-shirts!’ – Edmund G. Maduro
Speaking on the EGM Talks Show on ZROD FM at 8.00 pm on April 10, 2014, host Edmund G. Maduro expressed that the wearing of the t-shirts was suggesting quite clearly that the mentally ill are expressing themselves and those persons also have freedom of expression, which is what they were doing in wearing the t-shirts.
“They have a right to do it if they feel that they want to do it and that is against what they (the NDP government) are trying to do in terms of muzzling the press,” Maduro said.
Co-host Rajah A. Smith suggested more attention should be paid to what he felt was the more serious situation of a group of youths allegedly setting a man ablaze some time ago.
“People have a right to express themselves,” Maduro continued, “whether it is on a t-shirt or whatever.”
According to the talk show host, it is not democratic behaviour to try to intimidate persons because they wear a shirt with a political slogan. “[If] I don’t want the government back next year, I have a right to tell them. Nobody can stop me from saying that, that is my constitutional right.”
Maduro questioned why an issue was being made of the t-shirts being worn in the first instance.
The host turned his attention to the issue of medical treatment and said persons cannot be told which doctors they should be seeing for treatment as this was their choice and a constitutional right.
Maduro added, "It’s my life and the constitution gives me the prerogative to maintain and do what I want with my life. They’re in there and they don’t understand the constitution. I say we need more t-shirts.”
During Tuesday’s (April 8, 2014) sitting of the House of Assembly, the controversial Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn said that he saw mentally ill persons walking the streets with t-shirts marked ‘NDP must go’ and threatened to expose the names of persons whom he accused of making the mentally ill people wear the t-shirts against their will. Hon Walwyn said that this was something that made him sick to his stomach.

Stop being a pr..k. People deliberately misspell up in this here joint. It provides laughter through the agaknee... ah mean agony of NDP rule. All that aside, dem, ah mean them got to go. Ah means I, seen?
Find out if they are available in grocery shopping bags too. They would be a lot better looking than those ghastly rainbow coalition shopping bags and we would really be supporting a worthy cause. Buh we doing away wid plastic shopping bags when 97 percent of the groceries that these stores sell are in plastic containers. If they had just come to the people and said we want to charge you for the plastic bags instead of using greenhouse as a smokescreen we would have said patience.
I hear Bobbys opening back up. Boss, I hope you don't come wid this charging for plastic bag nonsense.
However, supplying these shirts to the mentally challenged is indeed sickening and I completely agree with Mr. Walwyn on that point.
For Mr. Maduro to suddenly become a proponent of freedom of speech or expression, is just about the most absurd thing I have ever heard. It would almost be laughable if it weren't so terribly sad!
For years, Edmund has been the POSTER BOY for "muzzling" people on his radio show! Wow, I am just blown away by the hypocrisy!
