BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Prominent businessman Mr C. Michael Thomas has said he is not sure what recommendations Governor Daniel Pruce will have for the territory when he presents his first Quarterly Report on the Implementation of Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Reforms in the Virgin Islands later this month; however, he is adamant that the VI has to get into the habit of holding each other accountable.

Mr Thomas, the Managing Director of Clarence Thomas Ltd (CTL) also opined that it was then Premier Andrew A. Fahie’s fight with then Governor Augustus J.U. Jaspert that triggered the CoI; however, the CoI is making some things happen in the territory that needed to happen.

“I understand there were things that needed to happen that we would never do ourselves, because, again, we are a small country and we don’t want to offend anyone.

“But, I keep telling them, sometimes we have to hold our people accountable and let’s set the country on the right path. What we are doing is we are creating a society that the next generation will have a hard time dealing with,” Mr Thomas, who did not go into specifics, stated on Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on May 6, 2024.

'I really think y’all up to something'

Emphasising it is his personal opinion, Mr Thomas said he met the former Governor Jaspert a few times and told him, “I said, Your Excellency, I really think y’all up to something and you don’t want us to know what it is.

“I said at the end of the day I really think you up to something and I said I know you want to fix it for us, I know you want what’s best for us but...” Mr Thomas said before host Damien C. Grange noted that he couldn’t say that with confidence about the former governor.

Mr Thomas continued that the VI is a special place and that it is different from the rest of the Caribbean.

“We don’t want to hold each other accountable. I think that is the mistake we are making. We want to get away with murder and think it is ok. No, you [are] sending a wrong message to the next generation.

“I don’t know where we going to end up... if we will be penalised and slapped on the wrist for it. I don’t know that, but time will tell,” Mr Thomas stated.

Meanwhile, ex-Premier Andrew A. Fahie, 53, was found guilty on February 8, 2024, on several counts of drug smuggling, money laundering, and racketeering, after he was arrested at a Miami Airport on April 28, 2022.

His sentencing hearing will take place on June 25, 2024.

This is honesty. Thia is real love for country...In spite the fact the he has made and is making millions from Govt in Rental, he is not or did not sway from the truth. .I do think a short take over is good for us. 18 mths - 2yrs fix the place, then call a local election and allow us to continue in more accountable and responsible way

Please, pray tell, what evidence is there that UK is interested in fixing the place? That is what I am afraid of. I am not happy with the status quo, but they are here, and the portfolios under their command is getting an F grade from me.

Police Force: A local lawyer was shot in his home. Did not die right away and called 911. Nothing happened. Prison: A young man from East End escaped from the Prison and it took months on this little rock to find him. Because police officers don't talk to people. They sit in the Station or drive around in their cars and thumb their noses at us and expect us to take up our phones and call people that we do not know and trust.

Civil Service: Oh, well, lots of what is happening there can be fixed. Nothing happening. Hurricanes Irma/Maria: They came. They saw. We were on our knees or on our backs on the wet soil and again, Nothing Happened. Yes. there was a loan guarantee, but a hundred thousand dollars for those who lost their roofs? Well, nothing happened.

So while we need someone to come to our aid, like in the past, we better fix this b**ch ourselves. Nobody is coming in on their white horses wanting to help us out. So stop living in dream land.

Sad to say a lot of people don't like people like that. People who speak truth have nothing to hide and will tell you the truth even if it is not common. People today believe a lie quicker than the truth. So many are soft soaking people with pure lies. Conning and trickie people don't speak truth infact they are experts in trickery. Here Mr. Thomas spoke from his heart which is commendable it shows that he is not to big and is not afraid to identify failure and flaws

why not return stolen property to its rightful owner, as a start? how about foreigners who's property is being
hung on to in the BVI and not returned or given over to the local agents to see to the return to the states. instead
certain people just keeping posessions not theirs. Police know. Governors and Premiers know details. but property
not returned. or arrangments to do do so. It last sat Long Bay on western side of Tortola at a stout location.
How many marble chessboards or Kurzweil synthesizers are there on Tortola. They are stolen. If you care about
your country, return the property and other things to the rightful owner. That's the law anyway. The Owner
