‘We had some real successes’ @ JMC Meeting in UK- Premier Wheatley
The JMC brings together elected leaders and representatives from all of the Overseas Territories (Ots), as well as UK Ministers and provides the principal forum for political dialogue and consultation between the UK and the OTs.
“We had our second day at the JMC, it went very well. JMC was very successful. So we are pleased with the trip. We were able to accomplish our goals and we had some real successes,” Premier Wheatley told Acting Director of Communications Karia J. Christopher in an interview on Friday, November 22, 2024, in London.
UK ‘did a good job of listening’- Premier
Dr Wheatley said the UK Overseas Territories Minister Stephen J. Doughty, MP and his team did a good job of listening and being “conciliatory, seeking common grounds, didn’t necessarily want to force things down your throat and they were very clear about what their positions were. We were clear about what our positions were, but there was an effort to meet in the meadow, and that was very apparent.”
The Premier said the UK also made it very clear they could not make promises they couldn’t keep, so the Ots didn’t expect to just hear things “to please you but I think they made an effort to be realistic, to be reasonable, to be measured and to be conciliatory.”
Dr Wheatley is scheduled to further update the territory on the VI’s experience in the UK “and other current matters” at a live press conference scheduled for 9:00 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Details later ???
Maybe at the same time you tell us how much your music fest cost us ??
The UK would love to be free of us, to give full independence
But we are not fiscally responsible enough, as has been proven lately with coi and Andrew conviction.
England does not want another Haiti created, they are politically responsible for us and they cannot simply let us go knowing the probable outcome.
All we need to do is get our act together and we are free to choose our own destiny.
Simple to say, hard to do with endemic corruption.
They are stuck in the past, not apologizing for slavery and dont want to give up anything thing yet you think they would give up the Virgin Islands after it has become rich?
