ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Brittany Wattley ran 11.60 to win the 100m at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships on Saturday May 5 2012, but she didn’t rest there

The MEAC also announced the 2012 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic selections, including Wattley, honoring 131 student-athletes, from the conference's 13 institutions who achieved academic success during the 2011-12 academic school year.

MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year are eligible for All-Academic accolades.

Wattley was also named to the MEAC 1st Team in both the 100m and 4 x 100m relay following her performances over the weekend.

Back at the Championships held at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. Wattley advanced out of the preliminaries of the 200 meter dash, winning her heat in a time of 23.88 and finishing 3rd fastest to qualify for the finals. She then ran 23.67 in the final for a 4th place finish.

Still not done, she ran the 4th leg in the 4 x 100m relay to help her team romp to victory and a new MEAC Record with a time of 44.93.

To round off her weekend, she also ran the 4th leg in the 4 x 400m relay to finish 12th in a time of 3:48.11.

All in all, Wattley had a hand in almost a third of her team’s 80.5 points, which garnered them a 4th place finish overall for the second consecutive year.
