ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Residents of Tortola are notified that the water supply will be shut off in the Road Town area from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM today, Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

According to a notice from the Water and Sewerage Department (W&SD), the reason for this interruption is to fix a broken pipeline at the Road Town Port.

Residents in the affected area are urged to fill up containers with water before the shutoff time to ensure that they have an adequate supply of water to use during the interruption period.

W&SD said any inconvenience caused is regretted.

The water disruption comes as persons throughout the VI have been experiencing water challenges over the past few weeks as a result of high electricity use in the VI.

Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) at a July 27, 2023, press conference said in order to prevent the overworking of generators, sacrifices include the water plant of the Seven Seas Water Corporation.

He added that the plant uses 4 megawatts when operating at full capacity, and in order to regulate the load and to balance whether to keep the light on, the water plant is usually the first acts to save energy by cutting production or moving the plant completely offline.

Okay, but what about Paraquita Bay. Water was off since Sunday because of a broken pipe. Today is Tuesday, was any work done at all, apart from turning off the water? The same pipe that was fixed a few months ago needs fixing again. Yall need to fix things properly. Only in the BVI water and current always going off. You would think with all the “money” we have our way of living would be better.

One should not bask in the glory of victory if one cannot take the pain of defeat.
