Waste Management Director Marcus E. Solomon Out! New Director to be named!

Mr Solomon, who is expected to return to his home country this week, confirmed the end of his tenure in a social media post. He was appointed as Director in 2023 on a two-year contract.
'I made a difference'- Solomon
In his social media post, he spoke about some of his achievements, including the rollout of waste reduction and diversion strategies, the end of subsurface fires, minimising smoke and the flies at waste disposal facilities and the expansion of house-to-house garbage collection.
Mr Solomon also noted that he was able to set up the export of recyclables such as waste oil, scrap metal, derelict vehicles and plastics and negotiate approximately $300,000 in grant/donation funding.
Thanks staff & department for dedication & commitment
He thanked his staff and the Department of Waste Management for their “dedication and commitment to delivering improved services to the public.
The outgoing Director also noted in his social media post that “despite my departure, I'm leaving confident that this Department is staffed by dedicated, talented individuals committed to preserving 'Nature’s Little Secret’ for future generations”.
The post of Director Waste Management has been advertised, and it’s our understanding that interviews are ongoing and a Virgin Islander is the frontrunner to replace Mr Solomon.

It might be a good project for either/or our high school or college students. There's got to be something positive here and not just complaints.
All the best.
