ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Walford Farrington was found guilty before Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards on May 23, 2014 of cruelty to a child and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Farrington was represented by attorney Marie Lou Creque.

A boat captain and resident of North Sound, Virgin Gorda, Farrington dealt his stepchild several lashes with a strap after a complaint of misbehaviour was made sometime in December 2012.

Stepchild is a very stupid word to refer to a child. The child has a natural mother and father. Mr. Farrington is married to the child's mother. So where does the word "step" comes in? Ole fashion cut arse for bad behavior, I am infavour of. I DO NOT support bruising of face and back, thats the stupid slave master mentally in black people. A coconut broom cross the legs and arse is licks enough Mr. Farrington. So what ever Senior Magistrate Ms. Richards do with you is justice.

I second the motion Sr. Magistrate.

My government will not promote abuse of children in the British Wirgin Islands.

You commit the crime, you do the time or pay the fine.

He is NOT married to her. It is the child's mother, who happens to be his girlfriend. Although you are not at fault for saying this, you cannot go off of everything you hear.

All once he help suppord this child married or not, he should be able to correct the child. But to beat the child like that is a no-no.

The article said "One of the lashes connected with the child’s face" it was not intentionally. I do not agree with abuse but beating our kids from the olden days know it was a form of disciplinary action. Its no wonder why our children today is the way they are. Parent can not longer correct their kids without the fear of facing legal charges. What about what Mr. Farrington have done for the kid. Am sorry it came to this and the law will gave him a fair deal
