Maybe it's time for him to feel what being stabbed feels like. When you stab someone, they might die and be in a lot of pain. Maybe then he would not be so fast to stab. Let him go back to his home in prison until he can turn around from bad to respectable.

Wow. I met this gentleman a few times, and even though he had a troubled past, he was making strides in improving himself to become a better person. I am so sorry to learn that he has found himself in this predicament that will land him in the same place that he has obviously tried so hard to stay out of. I really hope the victim recovers and I will hold off on further comments as I do not know the particulars of this case.

Apparently his DNA has been compromised. His " being from here" appears to not be a "two way " but rather one from here and one from up there conception. It is vital to be particular about whose DNA contributes to the makeup of your offspring. The whole society suffers as a result.

This is a sad to be informed of , and painful to the man that got stabbed, by the allegedly accused criminal Mr. Yakima Lettsome.
A number of times others, and I have visited the prison, and offered religious counsel to prisoners. At no time, he the allegedly accuser attended any that I know of, but he seems to me like his intention was to change character. Unfortunately, according to this top news report he hasn't.
Sadly, but true, prison maybe the safest place, physically, for some people. He, the alleged accuser, seems like one among that number, until, if changes his mindset.
Like we all do he needs God's grace, too.

Many people need help in many ways to cure these things that can stem from various of things such as cursed, mentally damaged etc.. prison cannot solve our problems. If a person did wrong God would have imprisoned all but the ways of God is not of man

same people that cant see our local politicians keep doing us wrong blatantly over and over and still think independence is a good thing.

Similar to the youths expressing their love and stance in support of the current culture which only breeds sex, drugs, gangs, violence and love for the crime life/ night life. They literally see all the fights and persons who brought knife and guns to these (culture events) still think this is the best direction despite what the current culture attracts and promotes.... i can't recall when last there was a fight or presence of a knife or gun at cane garden bay culture events (the real bvi culture). smh

If I can change so can he… also his location was not helping at all! Betito frett building is NOT a place for people hoping to recover from any struggle and personal demon! That place needs to be torn down or cleared out and renovated.
    • Stop making execuses for him. (12/08/2025, 10:29) Like (7) Dislike (5) Reply
He alone is responsible for his own actions. He clearly has no self control. This is man who committed a similar crime years back. He was sentenced to 20 years and somehow was released before he spent that entire 20 years. Face the fact: He is a violent individual that has no self control. It does not matter his environment. He would have behaved the same way in any other environment because he lacks self control. He needs to be put back where he belongs..in prison. He has not learned in his life how to deal with conflict without become violent. He needs to be imprisoned. He needs to be accountable for his own actions.

Some of you always like to blame others or in this case the environment for peoples bad behavior. This is a grown man with a history of violence. He is a repeat offender. When are you going to hold him responsible for his actions? Keep him behind bars. He was not rehabilitated. He did not learn a darn thing during the time he was locked up. If the person he stabbed dies, they should charge him with murder, and keep him behind bars for the rest of his natural life so that he will never hurt another person. Stop the excuses. He is not a child. He should know better and how to control himself. Since he cannot, there is only one place for him at this time: Balsum Ghut.

When I heard about the stabbing at that location, I was hoping that Wakima was not involved. Sadly my worst fears are now reality. I knew Wakima's chances of ending back in 'the system' were high given that there were so very few rehabilitative resources available to him. Once he was released from prison, now in his 40s, after being locked up for about 10 years, he had no decent place to live and no job. I personally know that some persons in the community tried to help him. I even arranged for professional counselling sessions that he attended and even provided a daily meal for him from our restaurant until he found employment. I've known Wakima for over 20 years since meeting him at the MEC where we both worked. He has always been polite to me. I recognized that he had many unresolved anger issues and later found out that he did not necessarily have the best start in life; having found himself in many challenging situations from a young age, but that's not an excuse for violent behaviour. He really promised me that he would try to be a better man; and now this major setback. To this end, I wish the stabbing victim a full and speedy recovery. This is just a sad situation all around. However, I believe even repeat offenders can be rehabilitated. Their reintegration back into society must also be delicately managed too through an integrated multi-agency approach that will prevent such individuals from falling through the cracks in the system.

He seems to be a very impulsive character and that maybe his main flaw. I know many impulsive ppl, many of them end up in jail, others find a way to function in society by keeping their impulses around other avenues like sports or political debates etc. What seems to be lost by these folks is that to make change you have to change everything. Stop hanging out in the old places they used to go and associating with the kind of ppl they used to associate with.
