VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley, District 9 Representative, has partnered with the Valley Sounds Lions Club to prepare and deliver almost 100 care packages to vulnerable members of the community as part of hurricane preparedness initiatives.

“Each package included dry and canned goods along with water to help families be better prepared. Seeing the smiles and gratitude on people's faces was truly heartwarming,” Hon Wheatley, who also serves as Minister for Health and Social Development, said.

Hon Wheatley also encouraged everyone who can to make their own hurricane preparations now.

The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season began on June 1, 2026, and, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) prediction, this season is expected to have 8 to 14 named storms, 3 to 6 hurricanes, and 1 to 3 major hurricanes across the Atlantic basin.
