Leaders from around the VI must now step forward officially and declare their intention to take up the 9 political district and the 4 at large post!

History will be made in this election season and it will be explosive to cover the race and the new leaders to emerge!!

Do we have capable people..? Yes! Hope to see young people, women and outspoken approach!

    No more quiet leadership!!

Voting is a civic duty; it is the fulcrum on which democracy rests/turns and what makes it work. Voting matters and every single vote matters but voting has not always been a default right for Virgin Islanders. Virgin Islanders got adult suffrage in 1954, resulting from the Great March of 24 November 1949. Many electorates often say they are not voting because nothing will change and politicians will do whatever they want and for whom they want. But the truth is that true power rests with the electorate, the people. Why vote?

Voters go to polls on Election Day to vote to send 13 elected members( 9 District Reps, 4 At Large) to the HOA. The HOA is the legislative arm that performs the important function of voting on legislation(s) to govern the territory. The VI is at a crossroad and this election is one of the most crucial and critical in a generation. The next government will have the monumental task of charting a new path forward for the territory, facing a myriad of challenges.

Moreover, the electorate play a critical and important role in whom comprise the next HOA, both government and opposition. The opposition play a vital role in attaining good governance. The electorate task is important and urgent so it must do its homework and vote smartly and wisely. However, the electorate role entails more than merely voting on Election Day. Additionally, it must get actively engaged in the political campaign, asking and getting answers to the right, relevant and reasonable questions, as well as stay actively civically engaged post election. The electorate must use it true power to effectively hold government’s feet to the fire. Unused power is like a dog chasing and catching up with a car. Every eligible Virgin Islander must register to vote and vote on Election Day. Get on the rolls for the polls.

Great points, well said. It is time to put up or shut up. We need a union of Major Bay Primary (now Williard Wheatley) and someone needs to write a book on the heritage of Major Bay Primary and also the old East End Methodist School. Lots of history to document out of those two schools. But this article is about voting. The 7th and 8th Districts will have a vibrant, robust campaign. Bring your A-game or don’t bother.

Indeed, this election is crucial and every vote matters and count. One vote can make a difference in determining who wins or falters. Register to vote and vote.

Please please vote. At the very least to select the lesser evil in your opinion. It matters - if they are all crap, you would still have an opinion between Trump, Putin and Jinping. So please GO VOTE.

Leaders are critically necessary to all countries spiritual, social, and economical growth, but unity of distribution of the wealth of any country base on love for the welbeing on all its citizens is vital to achieved to the standard of good governance.

In the past the BVI has has had mixed results, but has fell short of good governance. This is a known fact that will sadly only be challenge by selfish, crooked minded people, tha dispised others rights.
I too am looking forward to the next general election. I do hope that the majority of us that will vote Wii choose the the most qualified candidates, wisely, so that our wounds would be freed from political vampires of our (the people's) must needed finances for the good of all the people, no just the selected minority.

The above outcome is possible, if we exercise our political will unselfishly next general election.

I put my trust in the NDP and they failed me. I turn to the VIP and they also failed me so I will not vote this election if there is an election.
The politicians will come to you and try to convince you to vote for them and after they get into office they walk past you like you never existed.

If people will go to the poling stations and vote in the coming next general election, that not evil. What is evil is to vote for unqualified candidates, if you know that they are. But if your choose not to vote for anyone, then you should not expect to receive the benefits of other voters victory, if in fact their victory cause us to make progress towards better political governance for our country's people. Vote, even if your candidate or team lose. If you were to vote for the the right candidate/s, but they lose, that doesn't mean you are wrong. But if you were to vote the wrong candidate/s, that doesn't mean you are wrong.
Every winner of a competitive race was a participant of that race.
