ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Premier of the Virgin Islands Youth Parliament (VIYP), Mr Kevin S. Fahie has been named new President of the Lions Club of Tortola.

According to a brief statement from the club today, July 22, 2021, Mr Fahie has taken over from Nichola Dunkley who was only installed as President on June 19, 2021.

New president due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’

“There has been a recent leadership transition within the Lions Club of Tortola due to unforeseen circumstances, and we continue to wish our former President Lion Nichola Dunkley well in her future endeavours,” the statement said.

Mr Fahie confirmed this new development to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) this morning. “Yes I am the new President of Lions Club,” Mr Fahie said, adding that as the then 1st Vice President he was willing to step into the role of President.

“Along with our new 1st VP Lion Kamika Forbes, our Board and Members, the Lions Club stands ready to serve the community under the theme of “Impacting Communities with Kindness, One Life at a Time”.

‘Where there is a need, there is a Lion’- Mr Fahie

Mr Fahie also said he will serve a full term as president.

The young businessman and emergent leader said the Lions Club of Tortola will continue to look for opportunities to be of service to the VI, especially since there is a need for all hands on deck as the VI continues to be negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are living in a time in the BVI, where kindness and community service are more relevant than ever, and where there is a need, there is a Lion,” Mr Fahie stated.

He said the Lions Club of Tortola recently assisted with the "Operation Protect Each Other Vaccination Drive Thru" over the weekend, and the Lions Club will continue to support the VI community through innovative and safe projects.

“Further updates on our outreach will be provided through our Facebook Page,” Mr Fahie stated.

It was on October 24, 2020, that Mr Fahie was hailed as a youth role model by Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) in a social media tribute.
