She led the Spartan charge in the second frame, grounding five kills as UT tied the match with a 25-17 showing as the two SSC foes square off.

The Tars won the fourth stanza which saw eight tie scores and five lead changes as the two squads battled to a 25-22 Rollins win. Megan Hodges led the Rollins attack with seven kills on the frame while Kelly Meredith swung 5-for-10.

Selkridge smacked an errorless 5-for-7 to continue her attack.

Tampa pushed for a fifth set 15-8 victory to end the regular season. Selkridge with her team holding top spot in the Region is now awaiting word on the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament.

Her Volleyball career started at the tender age of 12 when her parents, Clyde and Isis Potter brought her to Jackie Weeks, Founder of the Matrix Volleyball Organisation, with the plea to get her away from just playing games on TV. Weekes took her under her wing and immediately recognized a raw talent.

Weekes worked with her and several other girls at the High School, eventually forming a team called “Chix for Trix. With the addition of Patti Romney, the team went onto win a championship and two of the girls; Selkridge and Valissa Brathwaite were offered scholarships.

As well as listening and learning from Weekes as the Territory’s top Volleyball Coach, Patrick Harrigan also recognized the talent of Selkridge and got the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports to assist in sending both Selkridge and Weekes to a camp in Michigan to further develop her skills.

The rest is down to hard work.

History is still in the making for Selkridge, but if nothing else, she is already proving that local coaches like Jackie Weekes have a lot to offer when given the right support and that if you have determination, willing to listen and to learn, then Volleyball can provide a great pathway to college success and a bright sporting future.

Additionally, the hard work and dedication by both yourself, our local coaches, family, friends and well wishers also made this possible. God's continued blessings take care and continue to represent the VI in a positive way.

Like other athletes (such as Tahesia Harrigan, Alec Anderson, Chantel Malone, Joe Chapman, Karene King - the list goes on and on), Danielle's obvious and impressive physical talents are wonderfully complemented by her warm, friendly, caring personality and her approachable and consistently amiable nature. She is inspiring.
