ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – First it was Lakeisha ‘Mimi’ Warner, then Kyron McMaster, Sharonda A. Pickering and the Gumbs twins all signed Letters of Intent for American institutions and now they are joined by Rolando Rodgers.

Alcorn State University men's basketball programme added more depth and athleticism to its 2017-18 team with the signing of Troymain Crosby and Rolando Rodgers, head coach Montez Robinson announced.

Crosby and Rodgers both signed National Letters of Intent.

Rodgers is a 6-9, 215 pound power forward from the [British] Virgin Islands. He will come to Alcorn as a freshman after playing a year of prep school at TaylorMade Academy where he averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

"Rolando Rodgers is a real athletic big-man that will bring us some size in the front court for the next four years," Robinson said. "He has a high ceiling of talent and I really look forward to getting him here and developing his game."

Rodgers played high school ball at Collegiate Prep Academy in Denver, Colorado. He was rated as a three-star recruit by ESPN.

ESPN's scouting report said, "Rodgers is a well-built 5-man with long arms, soft hands, a good motor. He is a good rebounder in his area and can finish above the rim. His blue-collar demeanor impacts the game at both ends. He carves out space while rebounding at both ends."
