LONDON, England, UK- In an effort to foster connections through education and culture, the story of the Virgin Islands (VI) has been integrated into the UK curriculum.

This initiative marks the first structured cultural exchange program between a UK Overseas Territory and UK schools, which will be delivered as part of the Year 6 curriculum.

The initiative was launched by the BVI London Office in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council. Early in the first term, Year 6 students explored the VI’s history and culture, covering topics such as colonization, emancipation, national heroes, and festivals. They engaged in experiences that included music, dance, storytelling, and traditional foods like cassava bread, coconut and pineapple tarts, and gooseberry stew.

Program allows UK students to interact with UKOT history

These sessions were led by Dr Angel Smith and the team from the BVI London Office.

This program allows UK students to interact with the history, culture, and global role of a UK Overseas Territory for the first time as part of their school curriculum.

The Virgin Islands is paving the way in cultural diplomacy and curriculum inclusion, creating a positive and precedent-setting model for how the stories of Overseas Territories can be shared in British classrooms.

The program will continue over three terms: History & Culture (September 2025), Tourism & Economy (January 2026), and Environment & Sustainability (July 2026).

There are plans to extend this program to secondary schools and colleges to enhance engagement on topics such as governance, economy, and environmental stewardship, thereby reshaping how the VI is introduced to future generations of UK citizens.

....... and in 2026 all hail to the greatest leader the VI ever had, Natalio, the Dicatator of the VI at that time (as Fraser) led us in to Independence and the VI have only ever gone backwards since. He thought about resigning and apologising and appointed a consultant to see if we needed a commission to consider if we should think about getting a report about whether or not he should resign and apologise. After 8 short years never getting a report from the consultant, he did get the report commissioned by the Commission and he decided to ignore the report, and the commission, but pay the conusultant anyway. For all 8 years. He then decided to carry on as a Dictator, not apologise to anyone and to just enjoy this money. As you hear this over the public propaganda speaker now, sitting on a bench outside where your school used to be, being read from a media report about a radio show. The education department has no more money, the schools are gone as people became tired of filling the begging bowl. but the Old People of the Legislature are living happily on their huge pensions in their houses with gold bathrooms with their many servants on minimum wage that has gone down every year since Independence.

Be here at the bench tomorrow to herar more of the history of the VI and how we got here. Get here early to get a place on the bench or you will have to sit on the dirt with the others.

Did the students get the varnished or unvarnished version of Virgin Islands history, ie, dehumanization, abuse,,exploitation, racial supremacy, reparation, etc.

Indeed, are the students going to taught the varnished or unvarnished version of BVI history?

I know that slow roll outs are not something that is practiced in the BVI, but it is a process that is tried and true around the rest of the world. We have to start small. Proof of concept, you know? Then expand. Work within your resources

Outside of the BVI, when you have an initiative or an idea, it's customary to start small and work within your resources to provide a proof of concept. Once receiveing positive feedback and proving that it is acheivable on the small scale, and gain backing, whether finacial or otherwise, a larger plan and roll out is executed. Maybe we should practice it more in the BVI so it doesn't seem like such a foreign concept.

Let's talk when our own people are ready to hear our own "unvarnished", or rather uncensored, history without the fluff and hearsay.
