VI’s Sasha makes waves on BET’s Music Matters Showcase
The teenage songstress spoke with Virgin Islands News Online recently and revealed that her experience on the BET Music Matters Showcase on May 13, 2014 was nothing short of exciting and ‘totally different from the BVI environment’.
Sasha, who rose to prominence during the Follow The Movement (FTM) Who’s Next competition, performed on the showcase which highlights up and coming superstars and exposes them to a wider audience.
The singer explained that she was embraced by the showcase audience and felt completely at home when she performed in front of the crowd, “even though they didn’t know me they acted like if I was their own,” she related excitedly.
Although the audience’s reception may have been surprising for Sasha, who performed the ‘Power of Love’ made popular by Celine Dion, she managed to turn her performance into something of a learning experience at the same time.
Interacting with the audience, she explained, was her biggest lesson from the night’s performance and will likely help to serve as a key lesson going forward for the young artiste. “It taught me how to manoeuvre on the stage more, how to interact with the crowd more,” Sasha said of her experience.
Above all else, it was also important for her to have fun in doing what she did and remain focused as she performs onstage.
BET’s Senior Programme Director, Mr Kelly Griffin also agreed that Sasha represented herself well and gave the artiste plaudits for her extraordinary performance on the Music Matters Showcase stage and offering congratulations to her for doing such a good job.
Sasha also related that there were no nerves ahead of or during the performance because she had grown accustomed to the stage having been performing ever since she was a young child.
