ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Members of the Nevis Alliance Progressive Society (NAPS), as part of their 10 year anniversary celebrations, honoured Hon. Ralph T O'Neal, OBE - First Premier of the Virgin Islands, Hon. Dr. Simeon Daniel - First Premier of Nevis, V. Inez Archibald- First Female Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands and Mr. Theodore Skeete - First President of NAPS.

The event took place last evening, April 21, 2012, at the Moorings Mariner Inn Hotel and Restaurant.

Each of the awardees, although not all members of NAPS, have a very close relationship with the organization and are all winners, said NAPS President Orendelle Malone.

"It is in the Framework of serving our communities that we chose to honour four distinguished persons, who are all first in their own rights."

All of the honourees received a plaque and were given the opportunity to respond, where they thanked the NAPS family for honouring them, and said they were overjoyed to be given such prestigious honours. They thanked their family and friends, and all thanked the invited guests and their supporters.

The Keynote Speaker for the night was Hon. Mark A. G. Brantley of the opposition in Nevis. Hon. Brantley commended NAPS and their members for all the work they have done and asked them to continue the good work that the people of the Virgin Islands and Nevis benefit greatly from.

The event boasts other attendees such as, Ministers of the VI Government, His Excellency the Governor Boyd McCleary, Premier Dr. Hon. D. Orlando Smith, Hon. Vance W. Amory - Opposition leader of Nevis, Hon. Dwight Cozier - Junior Minister of Nevis, and Mr. Robert Mathavious.

The Nevis Alliance Progressive Society was launched in March 2002 by a group of Nevisians, headed by Mr. Theodore Skeete. The Alliance was formed in an effort to continue the Nevisian contribution to the VI.

Some of the group’s highlights over the past ten years are the adoption of the Alexandrina Maduro Primary School and the contribution made to that school. They host an annual walk which is to promote the awareness for special needs children at the Eslyn Henley Richez Learning Centre, Family Support Network, BVI Cancer Society, Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly, Book Scholarships, Rainbow Children home and much more.

The Motto of the NAPS organization is, "One in Unity, Together in Strength".

This is something!!!!. The people of the BVI should be ashamed that it took the Nevians to come to the BVI to honor Uncle Ralph when the people of the BVI treat him like @##$@@!!!! shame shame on the BVI people. Congratulations Hon. O’Neal this is well deserved and too all the others who were honored.

I certainly agree with you. Congratulations to the honorees and Naps. Mr O'neal and family appreciated the gesture. And yes, the group decides on who they want to recognize. Deserving persons. There would be others in the future.

Nevis used to be part of the Virgin islands and some think they might want to return since they like the VI brand name more than they like the treatment they getting from St Kitts. Maybe just maybe they looking a new relationship.
