    When will organizations rooted in afro-haitian spiritual practices be able to freely take part in events like that. It is time such religious group gets to openly practice their voodoo, obeah and Santeria.

    @WHAT!!!! AND TRUDAT!

    There is an old saying about committees. Anything you don't want to do just put it out to a committee. Governments famous for doing this. I guarantee you both, it will not get done. Everyone has the own idea of how things should be and non can come to any agreement. Loser are usually we the people.

    Sounds like we are about to open a can of worms, mixing the observance of holidays and religious observance. As note by the previous 2 commenters (whether seriously or tongue in cheek), soon other religious groups will also ask for a seat at the table and recognition of holidays in honor of their religious persuasions.... a very slippery slope indeed in the name of not offending anyone.

    Keep church and state separate, please... trouble always follows when religion tries to dictate morality

      We will indeed be opening a can of worm with this. Many religious organizations don’t always agree on the basic much less this. For those not accepted you already know the train of argument. Persons will be call racist, have some kind of phobia or just down right hateful. Think careful about this. This can cause more confusion than we willing to deal with. No matter what solutions you give, someone will be offended. This is not a win win idea.
