VI’s Anderson named NEISHA Sailor of the Week!
The trio of Anderson, Jake Bartlein and Alyssa Seifert won the A-division in challenging conditions that featured gusts of wind up to 30 knots on the Saturday and extremely shifty, variable conditions on the Sunday.
They finished top five in 12 of 17 races, including three first places. Their performance helped the Hawks to a fourth-place overall finish in the 17-team event.
The previous week Anderson had represented the Hawks at the Friis and Marchiando Trophies, hosted by MIT, guiding the team to a 10th place finish out of 15 competing teams. In the first round robin, the Hawks were only able to secure a pair of wins in their final two races to bring their record to 2-7. The Hawks came back much stronger in the second round robin, racking double their wins than the first round to put the Hawks at 4-3 for the round, and qualify the team for the Silver Round Robin. The RWU sailors were able to finish both silver round robins with a record of 4-2, putting them at 8-4 overall for the regatta.
Anderson has also continued his form into the second week of April at the Southern New England Team Race, hosted by Connecticut College.
Anderson and his Hawks finished sixth out of the 12 competing teams. In the first round robin the Hawks came away with a 6-5 record, earning them a spot in to compete in the top-six round robin. Roger Williams came up short in the final rotation, dropping a loss to all five teams putting the Hawks at 6-10 overall for the competition.
