ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A virtual workshop focused on food security in the Overseas Territories (OTs) of the United Kingdom (UK) is set to take place on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Hosted by the UK Overseas Territories Climate Security Programme (CSP), the workshop will bring together expertise and experiences from various overseas territories.

The Virgin Islands business sector and community members interested in agriculture, fisheries, food supply, sustainability, or climate resilience are encouraged to participate in this event.

In a statement on Facebook from the Governor's Office, it was noted, "As a Territory that relies heavily on imports, the VI faces unique food system challenges, but we also have powerful local assets and opportunities."

'Workshop design to identify gaps & opportunities'

The statement further explained, "This workshop is designed to help identify practical needs, gaps, and opportunities across OTs, and the findings will directly inform future support from the Climate Security Programme."

The insights gathered from this virtual workshop are expected to help shape ongoing efforts toward a more resilient, evidence-based food security policy in the Virgin Islands.

"This collaborative OT wide session will explore Shared OT vulnerabilities linked to supply chain disruptions and import dependence, Strengthening domestic production and local value chains, Opportunities in small-scale agriculture and fisheries across islands, Lessons from other OTs building climate-smart food systems, and Cross-Territory collaboration and influencing future regional support programmes," the statement added.
