Virgin Islanders encouraged to visit Africa
As was first and accurately reported by Virgin Islands News Online, Vice President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. Kalonzo- Musyoka, was the keynote speaker of the Fifth National Prayer Breakfast at the Treasure Isle Hotel, today May 25, 2012.
In his address, Dr. Musyoka told the attendees that Kenya has come a long way from where it is today. He stated that political wars, violence and greed ran rampantly in his country but peace has been restored.
He spoke about the children in Africa, their misfortune on not receiving proper education and their excessive use of guns and spreading terror where ever they go. In thanking God, the Vice- President assured the attendees that the problem has been resolved and peace is evident.
“Africa was once a continent dark in every sense, where evil spirits seemed to abound endlessly. But the gospel of Jesus Christ broke every barrier that’s involved in witch craft, Voodoo etc, and we are now free.”
As a result, he stated that his country is now blessed and flourishing abundantly.
Referring to Kenya as home for people of slave ancestral background, he invited the attendees to come home or visit home, for them to get firsthand on what it is like and receive piece of their background.
Vice President Musyoka added, “if you come with me to Kenya, the country that lies on the Eastern End of Africa’s Continent, you will definitely agree with me that you experience a connection that is terribly overdue.”
He told the attendees he is delighted to be in the VI and he feels just as home.
Dr. Stephen encouraged them to seek God in all they do, to own up to the blood of Jesus and his gift of freedom.
Along with Vice President Musyoka, in attendance were; Member of Parliament for Kamukunji, Hon. Yusuf Hassan and Member of Parliament for Kiwezi Hon. Philip Kaloki.
The National Prayer Breakfast was hosted by the Speaker of the House and Members of the House of Assembly who decided to set aside a specific time annually to acknowledge God’s guidance and protection of the Territory and its people.
Deputy Premier, Dr. Hon. Kedrick. Pickering chaired the event.
