Virgin Islanders are 'experts' @ criticising– Claude O. Skelton-Cline
This comes as Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) announced that American Airlines, starting June 1, 2023, will provide daily direct flights between the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport at Beef Island and the Miami International Airport on the mainland USA.
However, according to Skelton-Cline, with the announcement came a sea of criticisms from persons in the VI who voiced their disapproval over some potentially high costs of tickets.
“Virgin Islander… we are experts, we are experts in criticism. It looks like as Virgin islanders, we just love to criticise. No matter what it is, no matter who it is,” he remarked during the December 6, 2022, edition of his Honestly Speaking show on ZBVI 780 AM.
Culture of criticisms- Skelton-Cline
“Part of our culture seems to be where Jehovah has left us as the criticisers of the earth. We are experts… all of us should be celebrating this… All of us will be celebrating the expansion, the move forward in airlift in this country."
He said even if the price was $2000, it would eventually come down as people use the airlines.
Skelton-Cline; however, called for the issue surrounding prices and schedules to be addressed.
"What it does is it impedes customers getting the most efficient and the most cost-effective prices to travel, but we ought to be fair on that," he said.
He congratulated subject Minister Hon Rymer and all others responsible for the move.
"That's a tremendous leap forward and I just want us to celebrate that we have direct flights coming soon," he remarked.
