VIP to vote for new Executive in November 2016
According to many persons at the meeting, it was intense, sometimes frank, but it showed that the conflict between the party boss Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) and First District Representative Hon Andrew A Fahie has not gone away and appears to be intensifying.
The General Body agreed to have a congress election on Wednesday November 30, 2016 when all the posts in the Executive, including that of Chairman held by Hon Fraser and the Presidency held by Carvin Malone, will be up for grabs.
Also other positions to be elected at the November 30, 2016 meeting where only delegates can vote are Vice President, Secretary and Assistant, Treasurer and Assistant, along with a Public Relations Officer.
A fresh start! Who needs to go?
Many members of the party, whom our newsroom spoke to but did not want their names to be used, believe that if the VIP is to move forward neither Hons Fraser and Fahie nor Mr Malone must be Chairman or President.
A woman, who said she was a 7th district delegate, told our newsroom that “it’s clear to me that the problem in the party is Carvin, Fraser and Andrew therefore we need a fresh start, we need a clean sweep within the party if you ask me…” When asked to elaborate on what she meant, the young lady declined to further comment.
Many have been calling in some circles for Dr Karl Dawson, current President of the H. L. Stoutt Community College, or R. Dancia Penn QC, the former Deputy Premier, to lead the party into the next general elections. However, it is unknown if any of the two will throw their hats in the ring for party chair in the upcoming party internal elections.
Julian Willock speaks
Businessman and Former Permanent Secretary Julian Willock, whose name has been called to be a candidate in the next general election and is a VIP delegate Member, when contacted by our newsroom said he had a conflict of schedule and did not make the meeting.
Mr Willock further stated, “I will have a lot to say soon, however, I do not wish to air the party’s business in public. My focus is to build up and not to tear down, to unite the country and not to engage in divisive rhetoric like some of the unscrupulous politicians we have now.”
The former Government Official also made it clear that he still supports Chairman Fraser, but he has only one vote as a delegate. He warned VIP faithfuls not to lose focus of the bigger picture, which is to bring change, hope and prosperity to the Virgin Islands and “it’s clear we are not on that path with the current government.”
Other business
At the August 13, 2016 meeting, according to Party President Malone in a press statement, sub committees were formed to address the party’s finances and the amendments to the VIP constitution.

If one listen to Mrs. Sallah's side of the story then you will see who is the real confusion maker in the party.
There is a strong undercurrent in that party who think that Stoutt left it in the will for them. They will stop at nothing until they get rid of Fraser, like what they did to Alvin and Dancia. This same group, now i don't want to mention names, want to control the VIP for the life of the party. They are behaving with Fraser just like how the republicans are behaving with Trump.
It is fear that has many of the VIP followers in a disarray.
When a question is being asked, what about Fraser people don't like, some say he is too cocky and uppity, no-one ever said that he is not a good person or leader, so why inject fear in the people.
When a question is being asked about Andrew people don't like, some say he can't be trusted, no-one ever said that he is not a good person or leader, so why inject fear in the people?
It seems like it is a clique within the VIP, just like the churches elections, friend of friend know that this friend is messy, but will still vote for this friend to get a certain position in church.
And that is where lots of fear is injected as well.
If some in the VIP have to be left behind, be that the case, but this sermount of problems only come about because of 'fear', and with that nothing will be loyal.
Fraser and Fahie need to accept that the Position of the British Virgin Islands as "it/they" stand(s) today is beyond just them. They need to be more open-minded to a New Age of Direction if we are to sustain and thrive throughout the future impact of Globalization.
A Complete New Branding is Necessary! Even their VIP LOGO of a European Image NEEDS revamping (no disrespect to any European, but that image needs to be changed like yesterday. It still acknowledges Inequality in its portrayal).
Forward-Thinking- It’s Time to Embrace who we actually are as a People, with zero tolerance for any type of hatred or bigotry. It’s just time to be able to embrace ourselves as an evolved and very aware set of human beings under the Sun.
For VIP to have any type of possibility of WINNING, A Full Revamp of the VIP is NEEDED like yesterday. Point Blank!!!
