VIP needs new blood for new sphere of politics – Hon Andrew A. Fahie
“My personal thing is not what the congress would say,” he however noted.
Hon Fahie was cognisant of the likely repercussions and said that he had no problem putting himself out on a limb to make such a statement but further added, “When you are young you have a lot of energy and a lot of ideas but you also need some older heads to give you the wisdom that you would need and how to go about it so you need a mixture of it.”
The First District Representative was at the time being very candid with Virgin Islands News Online when in an exclusive interview he choose the ‘say it as it is’ on a number of topical issues as it relates to the progress and shortfalls of his district, NDP rule over the past two years and also on several issues facing his own VIP.
As of late there has been evidence of a number of youths expressing their interests in getting into politics, some have obviously aligned themselves already with the VIP and have been public by the show of their attire at certain events, while there are those who have been indicating that they are contemplating even running for district leadership positions. These persons have chosen not to go public just yet as they feel the time is not yet ripe.
The candid former minister for education also noted that while the VIP constitution allows for the acceptances of new membership, there is need for that immediate opening at this time to welcome new, young blood in order to save itself. “I am not afraid of what needs to be done because the constitution is well written, it is strong…” said Hon Fahie in all confidence.
Hon Fahie professes to be well acquainted with the constitution of the VIP as he said he was one that was integrally involved in its writing some years ago and was instrumental with some of things that went into it. “From back then I saw the need for the party to have structure and along with others who had more input than me, but we saw it needed to have good structure because it wasn’t me alone…”
It was since back then according to Hon Fahie, they had seen that this day would come, the time when there would have been the need for new and young blood to take the party safely into the new sphere of politics and leadership of the Territory. “That forward thinking is something that I am glad that we did and I know that it would take care of itself.”

Fahie quote, “When you are young you have a lot of energy and a lot of ideas but you also need some older heads to give you the wisdom that you would need and how to go about it so you need a mixture of it.” - Who are the older heads he is trying to say that will give guidance?
This place have JOKES!!! I see no young person aligning themself to a half sunken ship.
In my view what Ralph is doing or more like not doing to the VIP is an injustice to the party & the Territory. As a true leader you should always leave things better than you met it. Not to have a mindset that once you are not leading then to hell with it, let it die.
