‘VIP encouraging youth participation’ – Pres. Carvin Malone

-said meetings to be had with youths to aid in process of putting together youth manifesto

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – President of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Mr Carvin Malone said that the growth of the party’s youth cohort is encouraging and it is hoped that this trend continues as the party places attention on future leaders.

“It is our intention to have [youth participation in the VIP] grow even more,” said Malone in a comment to this news site on Saturday August 23, 2014.

“We had a number of young people attend the [VIP] meetings [in Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke] but we have to do a lot more and we are going to do more,” said Malone.

“There is a teenage or young persons team that is currently active, with the help of a number of members who have been working with them for the past few months…we are going to meet with these young people shortly so that we could get their participation even more. We are going to make them an active part of the Virgin Islands Party and make sure that they can lend a hand in getting their youth manifesto published,” he said.

“If we don’t have nine district youth organizations we want to make sure that we have at least one on each of the islands so that when we have youth convention they could all get together and look at the common areas in a particular interest…because the interest in Jost Van Dyke will be different from the interest in Tortola, as would be the interest of Anegada and also that of Virgin Gorda,” he said.

“So we have to make sure that the youths are well voiced,” said Malone.

      I believe that the youths will make up their minds as they look at the records of both Governments. I believe though that the NDP has done a good job so far but there is still a lot to do. VIP has no record except for drag racing ideas which says a lot.

        who built all the public schools in the bvi? (VIP) who built the college? (VIP) who give out 95% of the scholarships? (VIP).... i say no more

    I support getting the youth involved, but I continue to be nervous about any "manifesto" because as we have seen, it becomes a check list of things that HAVE to be done whether circumstances have changed or not.
    NDP used it as a list for accomplishments despite what the public wanted. I would just like to see the single accomplishments celebrated one at a time to encourage people and to show flexibility and listening. Not a lock-step check list in general.

    We are very sorry. But will not be used by VIP, NDP, PPA, NBC,CNN or whatever party. Please note Election been taken place for years and years and years from the Hon.H.L.S times to present. politicians please NOTE as some point some point along the way the fooling and the playing around must come to a stop.

    We refuse to be used for any of your games. Each districk will start to see some kind of work taken place. Streets/ gutta/ basketball grounds or something. Your political movies are played out. The youths are sick of talking. Need real action with real results.

    If you really want to get our attention..you have to come clear. I have a bit of an influence around my hood and the people I does be around and we are sick of tired of being sick and tired.

    NDP or VIP we have do wake up everyday like most people and work hard to pay our bills and what's not. It's the way it is and the way it will always be..

    Brake the taboo. It's only the politicians, their family and the (so sorry to go into race but it's the fact) the white boy who will gain from the political game.

    You will use the black expect to help build your town & after you finish with them you will send them home. While keep the locals who are
