VIP aiming for record 13 seats in HoA
The rally took place at the bandstand in Road Town and saw a fair turnout of people who came to hear the plans that the party had for the country.
All of the candidates turned out to the rally as they each for the most part had brief messages to their constituents and to the people of the territory as a whole.
However, the highpoint of the night had to be the two speeches by Hon Andrew A. Fahie, incumbent representative for the First District and Chairman of the VIP Honourable Julian Fraser RA, the incumbenet representative for the Third District.
Hon Julian Fraser RA reporting for duty
Declaring that he is reporting for duty, Hon Fraser said that the present Government has been hijacked by special interests and a tiny number of individuals determined to ensure the permanent status of the one percent at the top of the social and wealth pyramid.
“The NDP has forgotten that the government belongs to the people…all the people, not the tiny and well connected one percent. I am here to say that the VIP will return power back to the people,” he said.
“I am Julian Fraser and I am reporting for my mission…to ensure that none of our children, teenagers or young adults are left behind in a crumbling education system fit for a poor and deprived country which the Virgin Islands is not,” he said.
Aiming for record 13 seats
He said that his aim was that the people send the VIP back into the House of Assembly in big numbers. “We are looking for a record 13 seats in the people’s House and we can do it together,” he said, adding that his hope is for an overwhelming majority leading to a multi-term government.
VIP's plan for the territory
Hon Fraser deconstructed the NDP notion that the VIP had no plan for the territory. “I’ll respond to the NDP by asking shouldn’t you be checking your hearing?” he said. “Have you not heard what the VIP has been saying for many months? Are you not aware or are you so power hungry that your hearing has become defective?” asked Hon Fraser.
He said that it is a fact that the NDP has no economic vision. “Tell us NDP, what is your economic plan for the territory? You can’t because there is none. Team VIP has a 10-year economic plan that will develop the country fully while protecting it from the vulnerabilities of tourism and the financial services sector.” He said the VIP will be focused on reducing national debt and annual budget deficits.
“In fact, team VIP will present annual budget surpluses within its first term in office as a result of an economic policy that builds the country from the bottom instead of the top down.
He added that team VIP will ensure probity, transparency, and accountability and full public engagement in the governance of the country.
Hon Fahie expects a new day
Speaking to the many persons gathered, Hon Andrew A. Fahie bid them ‘Good Morning’ since it was a new day dawning. “So once again I say good morning and God bless us all.”
He said the VIP was humbled and yet energised to do the work of the people when it becomes the next Government. “We continue to hear your cry…we listen to your views…we feel your pain and we share your desire to see a prosperous Virgin Islands where we all can benefit and not just a selected few,” he said.
The people will not be fooled
The former Minister for Education said when a snap election is called it is usually to hide something from the people or to see if the people can help them out by taking them out of office because they are hostage-taking each other where every man was his own Government.
“However they will soon find out on June 8 2015 that the people will not be fooled any longer, they will find out [on June 8] that the people will not be bullied any longer. On June 8 when they see that the majority of persons voted to elect a Virgin Islands Party Government when and only then will they realise that the power of the people is stronger than the people in power,” he said.

This isn't anything more than a pig with a dress and lipstick on..............give it a minute and you'll hear it squeal and see it in the mud again.
So ok they walked off the job 6 months before their contract expired
did we not give them the opportunity to leave before it expired,if you
hire someone and you claimed they are not doing good would you not
prefer they leave on their own accord. Now put the political campaigning
aside, why dont we get a survey done of which side we would like to
govern us for the next four year, and this should include everybody not
only the voters. They have to live here too and should have a say not
because they cannot vote.Plse note I am a born bvi islander who can
trace his roots to many generations of bvi islanders, but it is to be fair
to everyone.Reply and tell me what you think.

Common-sense would dictate that the survey should be about what the people's want. Their opinions about what is wrong, what they will like to see improved, the type of leaders (not which person), etc.
Although I agree with you, any such survey has to be carefully thought out, and make sure the right person is doing it. There are a lot of people going around saying they are researchers who really don't know anything about research.
The VIP is actually laying out what they plan on doing for the next 4 yrs and beyond. They are also highlighting some of what has gone wrong over the past 3 and 1/2 yrs which is good food for thought for those who might have forgotten.
I am impressed with the cross section of highly intelligent persons on the VIP ticket.
VIP have my vote 100%.
