VINO Exclusive: Miss BVI Contestant- Ms Sharie DeCastro
With confidence, elegance and poise, Sharie assures this news site that she is capable of being the next Miss BVI.
As an English teacher at the Elmore Stoutt High School, it is evident that she is competent enough to keep a crowd involved and grab their attention.
Ms. DeCastro forecasts her first book being published later this year and for her to continue her Master’s Degree in Education Administration.
This is not her first pageant. While abroad and engaged in her studies, Sharie entered a scholarship pageant dubbed Miss. Black and Gold and came first runner-up (Miss Gold).
She boasts of representing Cane Garden Bay and Road Town, seeing that her family resides in both locations.
Sharie stated that her confidence to win the Miss BVI pageant comes from the love she has for public speaking. “I love to speak and articulate myself.”
Her favourite quote is, “my deepest fear is not that I am inadequate, my deepest fear is that I am powerful beyond measure.”
All five contestants will compete for the title of Miss British Virgin Islands on August 5 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
In recap, the five contestants for the Miss BVI 2012 pageant are Lavanta Thompson, Michelle Parsons, Latoya Donovan, Ana Christina John and Sharie DeCastro.
The young ladies will be competing in categories: Introduction; Talent; Swimwear; Costume; Evening Wear and Question and Answer. Prior to the pageant, which is slated for early August, the contestants will be interviewed by a panel of judges.
This year, the queen will walk away with a car and a four-year scholarship among other prizes.
